Give Me Just a Little More Time is a superior late HDH track imo.

I had Neither One of Us as my Gladys tune in my top 10. Midnight Train also on the ballot. v happy to see her represented. One of my favorite vocalists.

wtf @ this Freda Payne song. I've never even heard this before, and it sounds more like a 60s Motown track than anything else.

ha, xp - "Band of Gold" is the biggest surprise of this rollout for me. I never paid it any attention during the nominating process, and I must admit I still don't get the praise for it.

I, like many people, I suspect, thought that "Band of Gold" was a Supremes song for years.

Top 25 in my ballot. Didn't know if its rep was strong enough to show up at this point, and delighted that it did.

yeah I don't get what people think is special about this one, esp compared to some of the monster classics/genre + period-defining tracks that placed behind it

I want to say I'm cool with the idea of Marvel turning the kids on to some good music, thus perhaps even justifying their continued existence for me, but I get the feeling that the soundtrack of that film was used for LOLZ.

Superstition is the only truly great funk song not by James Brown imo. It's legit immortal. Everyone tried to ruin it by overuse but it just can't be done. That last dig of the horns at the end is sublime.

There's an cross-Atlantic divide here, to be sure. "Band Of Gold" was a 1970 UK #1 and is considered an all-time classic over here, whereas I've literally never heard of Five Stairsteps (sounds great on first listen, though). Why is "O-o-h Child" so well known? It's had 37 million plays on Spotify?!

I love Marvel but sort of hated that movie for the way it used music. Especially my reverence for O-o-h Child was insulted.
