Celebrity influencers only need to impress venture capitalists and advertising executives, who will be as reliably stupid tomorrow as they were three days ago

I guess there has to be some subset of people following celebrities on instagram who really want to buy protein supplements, juice cleanse diets, and shady grooming products but I don't think I know any

I have family members who are 100% vulnerable to celebrity influencers and try to imitate them on IG

which they do because they think that might result in some magic windfall of money at some point
that's the fallacy of imitation -- you think you're going to be rich and successful by imitating the juice cleanse and expensive skincare routine, but you should be doing what successful influencers did before they were big: illuminati sex magic and spirit cooking

To pull off the 300 million impressions, McFarland and Ja Rule partnered with a P.R. agency, a creative agency, and Elliot Tebele, a once-random nobody who has created a social-media empire by siphoning other people’s jokes into the Instagram account @FuckJerry.

Had missed this from yesterday
http://www.tmz.com/2017/05/01/fyre-festival-riots-violence-lawsuit/
The people who are bellyaching about the Fyre Festival may be inciting civil unrest and even riots, and if they don't stop grousing they're gonna be in big trouble ... so threaten the festival's lawyers.Attorneys for Fyre have fired off a cease and desist letter to at least one of the people who flew to the Bahamas for the festival. The person complained on social media ... communications on the island were non-existent and there was nothing but disaster relief tents that were on the verge of blowing over. The lawyers said the statements were untrue and what's worse, could "incite violence, rioting or civil unrest."And there was this warning ... "If someone innocent does get hurt as a result [of your postings] Fyre Festival will hold you accountable and responsible," adding, "Inciting violence crosses the line."
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 2 May 2017 17:25 (seven years ago) link
well, now we know how they're spending the rest of the money they have left: lawyers

AFAICT, this is the Fyre festival site:
