i always heard that as "ovation," which i thought made it a pretty dumb lyric already

Worst:
And I come on like a freak show takes the stage. With a tick tock rhythm and a bump for the dropThe velvet it rips / In the city we tripped
Best: "The sky it was gold, it was rose / I was taking sips of it through my nose." I do like the way he delivers that. Also when he starts freaking out: "I feel myself heavy on the ground / I'm scared, I'm not coming down" - great bookends for the song really, this whole tale of the high and the comedown. I doubt this could have been a #1 if he were pronouncing words correctly and people could easily understand what he was singing about.

The beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling
also used to hear this as "energy feeling" and i have no idea if the real lyric is better/worse/more lol

I don't think these are the most reliable set of lyrics, pretty sure it is ovation and not ovulation
(but I voted for it anyway on the basis of it being written as 'ovulation' because if that were the lyric it would be the worst line)

And yet half of the song refers to consuming hard drugs.
musically it sounds like christian rock. clean production, uptempo but not too fast, only just slightly overdriven guitars, sickeningly ingratiating chorus. i imagine the singer being this guy with a buzzcut and sandals with velcro on them, a youthgroup leader who's down with the kids and wants to give them a positive message but still have some fun, woo!

I thought this would be a poll about Hashim's "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)"

this was the first cd i bought as a kid (i was in fourth grade) and i listened to it over and over again while staying up all night with my best friend longing for girls. the other cd we did that with around the same time was "what's the story (morning glory)" and this has held up far better.
i still think this song is incredibly good, actually, lyrics and everything. i know some peeps probably already got all nostalgia-luv on 3EB on another thread, but w/e.

voted for "slide up around the belly, face down on the mattress"
a good line in the context of the song, but how do panties slide up around the belly? or is he referring to the dress? either way, confusing.
