i just realized that only 4 songs in my list were released as singles.

My list seems to be angling strongly towards softer tracks and epics so far. Not so many heavy songs.

The Zwan record is good, and I can think of 2 or 3 tracks on there that I absolutely love - but I disagree about it being better than MACHINA, let alone Oceania ...

xp fine song, wouldn't have fit on Adore, but I still think it could've been a decent hit (only the Rick Rubin version though), certainly bigger than Ava Adore and Perfect.

Unashamedly stoked for this. Was a huge fan when young. It's to my advantage that everything after Machina I/II (bar Zwan) is pish, so I don't have to consider those. Still, stuck with a first draft of 40-songs-that-absolutely-have-to-be-on-the-25-votes-ballot.

Is Zwan allowed to vote for (it's prob not going to make it, but just checking)

Except that not everything post-MACHINA is awful.

If Zwan is allowed then Corgan's solo stuff should be, and if Corgan's solo stuff is then so should Iha's and Jimmy's ...

assuming Zwan & Billy's solo records are not eligible, what say you Bee OK? Chrysanthemum would absolutely make my top 10, probably top 5, but like everyone has said whittling just SP mk I down to 25 tracks is truly brutal.

oh yeah, Not Worth Asking! I mean yeah like I said upthread there are some good songs from their early Cure cosplay days but I don't think any of them would make my top 100.

It's not as good as 25 others but it's sheer nostalgia tbh. Used to do my paper route with a b-sides/old stuff cassette in my walkman :)

Though Cure cosplay is a bit of a stretch for that tune, and you know it!

i'm thinking mainly of songs like She, There It Goes, My Eternity, really anything they played on that Pulse Basement show in 1988.

i completely disagree, the lyrics are worse and the keyboard line is dumb

yeah it's not an obscure song at all but i'd be surprised if it makes anyone else's top 25

i know i'm very alone in that opinion but i honestly think the machina i "try" a huge improvement: jimmy's drums are more interesting, the piano gives it this weird dreamy fading-in-out-of-nothing effect, billy's vocal is better, i love the way "like you said it's...." trails off instead of resolving in a really stupid rhyme ("just because!")

I'm with Brad on this one. The piano is what does it for me.

xp i do love both versions of Try, and i definitely wouldn't rate the MII version if the MI version didn't exist. i just like how it's a variation on a theme lyrically, all the cities mentioned & yeah the arrangements are pretty different. i really like the acoustic guitar chord changes in MII version.
