your memories are yours, my memories are mine. "greatest" seems like the wrong word. xp

Sure, great is subjective, of course it is.
― 29 facepalms, Sunday, 3 June 2018 23:41 (six years ago) link
Well, for example, I wouldn’t try argue that someone like Mayo T. is a “great” gtrist in any conventional sense... but I love his playing style so much! Meanwhile, there are many “great” players whose playing style and music don’t connect with me... I guess that’s the distinction.
― i’m still stanning (morrisp), Sunday, 3 June 2018 23:46 (six years ago) link
Sure. There’s more than one way to be great.

I think Shakey said Iommi in the thread that prompted this thread. and I'd pick Hetfield over Hammett.

he's great but I'm shocked he's one of the most listed guitarists here, if not the most listed?
Forcing myself to a strict "no dead people" list:
Mary HalvorsonVernon ReidBill OrcuttMike ScheidtSteffen Basho-Junghans
List subject to change on an hourly basis. I met the future of guitar recently, but she's not there yet so will brag at the proper moment.
