WilliamC, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:11 (six years ago) link

WELLLLLLLLLL

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:13 (six years ago) link

adding to the love for badge, too, what a perfect little gem of a song. that bridge (obviously), that bassline, the massive energy on the final verse.

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:14 (six years ago) link

i've corrected the spotify playlist except it's still starting with "calico skies"

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:15 (six years ago) link

"getting closer" and "long haired lady" singlehandedly 77'd by williamc's ballot

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:15 (six years ago) link

or 78'd, idk, need more sleep

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:16 (six years ago) link

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:17 (six years ago) link

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:22 (six years ago) link

also can we celebrate "let me roll it" which feels like paul trying to write a george song

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:22 (six years ago) link

honestly difficult for me to think of songs more perfect than "beware of darkness"

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:24 (six years ago) link

"back seat of my car" was no. 6 on my ballot. when turrican and i were fighting about paul's solo career continuing the sound of abbey road, i was planning to concede that particular song. it's perfect

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:25 (six years ago) link

good thing you didn't, though

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:26 (six years ago) link

lol

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:26 (six years ago) link

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:35 (six years ago) link

this is where all the RAM songs go, huh.

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:36 (six years ago) link

such a perfect little single – a nice contrast against "My Sweet Lord" and "Instant Karma."

morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:36 (six years ago) link

until Uncle Albert places #1, obviously xp

this song sucks

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:40 (six years ago) link

yeah i'm with shakey here

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:41 (six years ago) link

i like the synth line so much but i didn't vote for it. "coming up" is superior in basically every way

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:42 (six years ago) link

too much Paul here

sleeve, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:42 (six years ago) link

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:43 (six years ago) link

that song was mtv-huge, right?

37. Nobody Told Me - John Lennon (feat. John, Ringo) (849 points, 15 votes)

Really? I thought Andy Newmark was the only drummer on those 1980 sessions.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:47 (six years ago) link

i think i've heard this song

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:47 (six years ago) link

live and let die is a better song than a bond theme, if you get me

808s & Deep States (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:47 (six years ago) link

you're right Tarfumes, not sure how Ringo's credit slipped in there. Session credits for some of these things was really hard to keep track of and standardize across ballot entries.

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:49 (six years ago) link

i can imagine! besides, just to call out the worst example of this, who can say who played what on all things must pass anyway (though you can generally tell it's ringo when he's on it)

flamenco blorf (BradNelson), Tuesday, 5 June 2018 16:50 (six years ago) link

I think I mistakenly placed his name in there because of this tidbit:
The song was originally written for Ringo Starr to include on his 1981 album, Stop and Smell the Roses, but due to Lennon's death, Ringo decided not to record it.
