'Objects in the Rear View Mirror...' has a decent lyric, actually, and it actually deserves to be 10 minutes long.

The fake pizzicato strings etc. on 'Back Into Hell' sound really corny now, but it only makes up a couple of minutes on a stupendously long album - which was only ever released as a single LP on vinyl rather than as a double! I've never heard it on vinyl, but the sound quality must be ghastly.

^^Major Label vinyl at that time was basically manuevers in trolling.

Yeah! I mean, the LP is about 75 minutes long, so easily 35+ minutes per side... I assume the cutting engineer was getting paid well, cuz no way could that have ever turned out well. Not with this music, anyway!

"Life is a Lemon..." is amazing. The album is really frontloaded, though, and should probably just end at "Objects..." - which would still make it 50+ mins!

Oh, the album is definitely frontloaded - it's difficult to disagree with that, but I still prefer this to the first Bat Out of Hell because it's more excessive, more over-the-top and darker, too.

I'll bet Muse have this album in their record collections - the intro to 'Out of the Frying Pan' struck me as being quite Muse-like.

This is the album that I think Noel Gallagher thought he was making with Oasis in 1996/1997 until the coke wore off and he realised he'd made Be Here Now instead. Every song a fucking epic.

Man, 'It Just Won't Quit' is stunning... it starts off quietly enough and then just piles on hook after hook.
