I did not vote for Jimmy Eat World on the tracks list because I voted for it on the albums list. Plus which, the best song on the album ("A Praise Chorus") was not nominated.

I like Jimmy Eat World plenty, but this song wore out from overplay for me, so I didn't vote for it in the end. It's still great though.

I loved the theory cooked up a year or two ago (on Twitter) that this was actually a bisexual realization anthem. Even if it wasn't intentional, it fits like a glove.

Also I still remember Pow coming on at the first rave I ever went to, when I was about 16/17. I didnt really get what was going on, people didnt really seem to be enjoying themselves, the DJ was just playing a bland mix of house and the last knocking of garage, losing attention and then POW! for the most part, i'm with Tuomas. i entered the decade as an indie kid who came to that scene through SY and punk, and by 2004, i was bored and went full noise dude and techno head.

As someone whose ballot was pop/hip hop/and 0% indie, I think that this is such a boring discussion and we don’t actually need 200 replies crying about indie > hoping for one of my faves to make an appearance so I can talk about it

I found the experience of actually picking the songs enormously nostalgic - it’s a time in my life that spans a lot of my major life experiences and a lot of the songs I picked have deep meaning to me or are entwined with specific memories in a way that later stuff just isn’t. It reminded me of when I was moving to the UK and when I finished my leaving cert(!) and when I was depressed and on the verge of dropping out of university and of a mix SV made me and of a million other experiences in between. I’ve really enjoyed remembering and listening to all these songs all over again, including some I haven’t listened to in at least a decade. Tl; dr thank you for doing this!
