Two decent questions got considered answers. "Why did it take so long"

was there a lot of awkward stage banter and terrible performances?

it was in a huge outdoor stadium with lawn seating and those huge big projection screens because you can't see jackshit from the lawn seating

counterpoint: it was in a sweaty 1200-capacity beer barn and it ruled

I (very briefly) interviewed Lydon around the time of the second reunion tour. I think it was 2003? After 9/11, anyway, so I wanted to ask him about Africa Bambaataa's "World Destruction," whose lyrics seemed very of the moment. I say hello and in hopes of setting up a discussion I tell him that before I ask him about the Pistols, could I ask a hip-hop related question? He says "are you taking the piss?" and I say, no, I'm dead serious. So he yells "fuck off!" and hangs up on me. I call back in 30 seconds, reintroduce myself, and he just screeches "I said fuck off!" and hangs up again. I figure, what more could I ask from an interview with Johnny Rotten? Also, I got it on tape, which is kind of cool.

Have you realised that rock stars
Always seem to lie so much?
John Lydon once said he cared
But he never really gave a fuck

I went with Sid-as-coat-hanger.

From what I've heard, John saves his ire for the press but is very gracious with fans. Anyone here actually met him?

Tricky quote is great. I never get tired of white guys from the 90s thinking they were dropping an insightful truthbomb by pointing out what sampling is.

If you scroll down from the link there's Alan McGee's review, sorry "Creation Records Statement" of the reunion gig, which is almost worth polling on its own.

"If you accept Oasis and to my mind 3 Colours Red as the most exciting rock'n'roll bands in the country then accept this that both Noel Gallagher and Chris McCormack told me separately that "they are better than us".".

"Steve Jones is the man The Throb always wanted to be"

"Britpop? More like Shitpop. You're welcome to your mediocrity".

Surprising that Oor Boaby isn't mentioned.
