Okay, the downside of this thread hijacking is that we have nowhere to discuss this topic.
So, in an attempt to get this thread back on the rails, I'll offer a non-jokey answer to the question (and frankly, I can't believe I'm the first to mention them): the Juggalos! (fans of Insane Clown Posse)

Have we talked about GWAR in this thread? A bunch of friends from elementary and middle school go to the Gwar-B-Que every year. It seems linked to Warped Tour and festival culture generally, but more bro-ey and also, Gwar.

I seem to recall GWAR have played at the Gathering Of The Juggalos - which, for those of you not 'in the know', is a festival to celebrate the music and personal grooming style of clown-based US rap act Insane Clown Posse, aka "ICP".

From time to time, I drive past a business which uses its initials ICP on the sign. I amuse myself more than I should by imagining an office filled with Juggalos working in cubicles.

Not to be confused with Ruffalos, who pay tribute to their idol by wearing rumpled T-shirts and jeans and rubbing the back of their necks while smiling nervously.

I read an anthropological study of teenage jazz fans in the 30s or 40s once, in a book of essays about music (there was also one about how music in 1988 was terrible and doomed) - have been looking for it since but can't remember anything else about it.

Sounds rad! Are they familiar with the music produced by the Posse of Insane Clowns?
I think their fan base is affectionately referred to as Jugglers, but I am not sure.
Surely someone will enlighten me in due course.

― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Wednesday, 8 February 2023 19:46 (one year ago) link
A little known fact: The term 'Juggalos' is derived from the 16th century jurist Henry Gallough, nicknamed Judge Gallows, who was known for frequently handing down sentences of death for the crimes of frolicking, clowning and drinking of an ale called Saygo.
