i feel like i'm going crazy. during lockdown sometime in 2020 stirmonster you put out a mix of purely rock n roll. it started with very early stuff and then got into rockabilly etc. do you remember this? i listened to it a lot and now i can't find it or remember what it was called! there's an absolutely sensational song on it from a on-hit wonder singer about whom little is known (and of course i can't remember her name or the song) but it's basically a blues about a man who treat her bad but she still misses him.. any help appreciated!

it's this corker I assumehttps://soundcloud.com/twitch/jd-twitch-its-only-rock-n-roll-but-i-like-it-vol-1

The new Pleasure Pool album on Optimo seems pretty good so far. Really interesting grooves and use of vocals.

looking forward to hearing this! Watching Trees was an amazing festival and I gotta say that Pleasure Pool were the most amazing thing I saw there. Whole set was incredible, can't wait to see them live again one day

sounding incredible so far, like can, jon hassell, the happy mondays and the shamen all trying to make a cosmic disco record together

yeah indeed, that was very much a flavour when I saw them live

Really good album, my body chose a particularily bad time to demand a disco nap at Watching Trees and I missed the magic.

This one's a really great recent release: https://optimomusic.bandcamp.com/album/inside-the-sphere
Shades of the more contemplative work of Mika Vainio and Plastikman's Consumed, but not limited to those references.

This is 100000000000% more interesting than Tycho's annual burning man dawn mix as posted around the internet.

Caught the closing “Watching Trees” takeover at Field Manouvers a few weeks back and it was full of brilliant moments - perfect end to the festival.

Some funny edits/mash-ups from that guy. New to me. Some pretty hip sources. Mass? A dance edit of Henry Badowski's Baby Sign Here With Me? Not sure how I feel about it all.
― dan selzer, Monday, 23 October 2023 17:33 (seven months ago) link
he's done some great stuff, that one just made me laugh because of the place that booker t tune has in british (or should that be english?) culture

ha ha! i'm surprised it took so long for anyone to do that. first few times i ever played the liquid liquid track several people asked "what was the track that sounded a bit like the cricket theme?". for non Brits, soul limbo is synonmyous with cricket here as it is / was the tv theme tune for a long time.
mr bleaching agent is a good pal of mine. he told me he had done a ton of edits but i hadn't got as far as hearing this one yet.
