That being said, “Rollin & Scratchin” was my favorite years-later (ahem) discovery from Homework.

Max Hamburgers (Eric H.), Friday, 22 April 2022 00:43 (two years ago) link

I have been to the Mayan Theater a bunch of times during the early 90s but moved to San Francisco in 95 and missed that show.

until tomorrow then

Bee OK, Friday, 22 April 2022 01:02 (two years ago) link

Fragments Of Time is my favourite song on RAM and was my number four. It's just perfect.

kitchen person, Friday, 22 April 2022 01:06 (two years ago) link

it's the one track from RAM that provides the sort of thrills you'd expect

ufo, Friday, 22 April 2022 01:08 (two years ago) link

"Fragments in Time" is great, the laidback feel and the way Todd sings... it reminds me of early Steely Dan filtered through Daft Punk

Vinnie, Friday, 22 April 2022 01:16 (two years ago) link

yeah Santa Claus was on my ballot also
i just doubt it’ll place higher than Holiday On Ice

scanner darkly, Friday, 22 April 2022 01:30 (two years ago) link

xpost I always felt like Fragments should have been the second single from RAM. Sounded like an easy hit to me.

kitchen person, Friday, 22 April 2022 01:49 (two years ago) link

Today was fun with all the engagement, looking forward to tomorrow.

Bee OK, Friday, 22 April 2022 02:25 (two years ago) link

Great selection of songs so far.

Bee OK, Friday, 22 April 2022 02:26 (two years ago) link

Catching up with the results from today. Voted for Fragments Of Time (as mentioned), Lose Yourself to Dance, Giorgio and Give Life Back to Music. Really can't see anything else making it from RAM apart from Get Lucky.

Surprised to see both the Weeknd songs here. I quite like I Feel It Coming, but didn't even think of including it on my list.

I'm a bit disappointed Short Circuit was so low. It was my number two. It was the first song that convinced me there was more to Discovery than just the singles.

Really enjoying the results and especially looking forward to listening through all these songs when the poll ends. It's going to be an amazing playlist.

kitchen person, Friday, 22 April 2022 02:36 (two years ago) link

Is it a little surprising that nothing to place so far has had any #1 votes? Maybe not... My #1 was a very popular track that is sure to place high.

I'll say too low for Together and So Much Love To Give, my #2 and #7.

Given the competition I'm a tad shocked to see tracks like Within, Daftendirekt, and Teachers place.

My Knight Club votes went to Holiday on Ice and Mirage, both of which placed, along with Coral Twist... Curious to see if any others make it.

That's correct, all number ones are yet to come.

Bee OK, Friday, 22 April 2022 06:44 (two years ago) link

That is pretty surprising to me... but I also expect my number one to be top 5

Vinnie, Friday, 22 April 2022 07:11 (two years ago) link

Awesome poll so far.

_sorry for a hot take, but daft punk were never great when it came to feminine energy, were they? always kind of a boys thing._

Yeah, it's especially apparent in their teen-male-gaze-y merch ads, and in things like both(!) of the "Club Soda" videos. Plus they infamously said they moved from the rock scene to dance clubs because it was a better opportunity to meet sexy women.

Guess I’ve always vaguely assumed the Daft Punk guys were gay. Naming one of their side projects “Le Knight Club” they definitely had no intention to dispel that notion.
(for context, apart from it being an obvious pun, it sounds/looks like the prototypical name of a Paris leather bar, and there is in fact a decades-old gay bathhouse there that’s known as Le King Sauna)

gorgeous, underrated tune

nxd, Friday, 22 April 2022 08:29 (two years ago) link

Been listening to this band for 25 years and somehow missed out on most of these side projects. Santa Claus is great!

cheek, Friday, 22 April 2022 12:50 (two years ago) link

I'm coming very late to this party. I've been really under the weather the last two days, but will try to follow this live today although I might not be able to comment much.

I will say so far I'm surprised "Giorgio" isn't higher, it feels like a big highlight on the album, although I did place "Fragments Of Time" and another RAM song higher on my ballot. I will also add a "too low" for "Too Long" which is just phenomenal, but so is the rest of Discovery so I get it.

I'm glad the better of the Weeknd song is higher and we're probably not getting anymore HAA songs right? Or maybe "The Prime Time Of Your Life" will make it. I've rarely been as disappointed by a comeback single as when "Robot Rock" came out.

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 22 April 2022 15:11 (two years ago) link

I hope the title track from HAA makes it!

Hans Holbein (Chinchilla Volapük), Friday, 22 April 2022 15:21 (two years ago) link

All of the HAA songs are better as Alive 2007 mashups. I think I voted for three or four, but based on the album only getting 8 votes, maybe they've got no hope.

I had a conversation with Julian Casablancas back in the day when he was dealing with his pregnant girlfriend, sort of funny now to think back on that exchange.

Random Access Memories tracks did very well in this poll despite it tanking on the album side and the comments about it.
