I hope to never hear the top 2 albums on this list again.

Voted for Robyn just ahead of Erykah and Gorillaz. A fair few of the albums on the list that I loved at the time, I haven't gone back to much (Big Boi, LCD, Lindstrøm, Kanye, Lindstrøm, The-Dream etc).
Radio Dept, Kelis, Twin Shadow, Susanne Sundfør, Future Islands, Owen Pallett, Best Coast, Kylie and Hot Chip are the albums from 2010 I still revisit a lot.

Probably would have voted for Owen Pallett’s Heartland had it been on the list.

Have One on Me was probably the last "new" record to really amaze me. But seeing that I've only heard two others on this list makes me realize I'll never catch up with what other people like.

Last Train to Paris, just over Returnal.

Really like the Badu and the Emeralds albums but went with Joanna Newsom.
― Vanishing Point (Chinaski), Friday, 13 May 2022 18:15 (two years ago) link
I didn't vote for it, but I remember liking MGMT's Congratulations more than I thought I would - a better album overall than their previous one.
And I still love Big Boi's album. I wonder if the version that was blocked (due to a few tracks with André 3000) has ever leaked, or if it can be accurately pieced together with what's out there.
― birdistheword, Friday, 13 May 2022 18:24 (two years ago) link
"royal flush" and "lookin 4 ya" are very available, idk if there's a version of "the train pt. 2" with 3000's verse out there anywhere

feel like the Big Boi joint WAS my summer of 2010 (one of the best summers of my life tbh).
so, that.

would also ride for the Robyn, the Janelle Monae, The-Dream, Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, and the Yelawolf (lol remember when he was good)

Lindstrøm & Christabelle (though I had my copy from Rough Trade in 2009)

Halcyon Digest gets my vote, love that album to pieces
but a lot of strong albums, the LCD one is good, Badu is excellent, Body Talk is really a compilation but it's amazing... good year
― corrs unplugged, Monday, 16 May 2022 06:55 (two years ago) link
Cool to see Dënver in that listIn my book, the only albums of AOTY calibre here are Newsom, Kanye and Big Boi.Others: Warpaint, Luisa Maita, Tulipa Ruiz
― Nabozo, Monday, 16 May 2022 07:50 (two years ago) link
There are quite a few that I like but nothing is screaming out for my vote here. Going to vote for [i[Contra[/i] just over New Amerykah, Pt. 2 (Return of the Ankh) and Body Talk.

What happened with Deerhunter? I loved Monomania but I felt like the press and maybe a lot of fans suddenly became lukewarm towards them from that album on.
― birdistheword, Monday, 16 May 2022 19:36 (two years ago) link
A number of my favorite albums from the decade -- Four Tet, Robyn, Beach House. Teen Dream takes it though.

I've never heard most of these. (Surprise!) Don't really like nu-Swans, and the Badu is a slightly less good follow-up to an amazing record, so this is either gonna be Diddy or Gil Scott-Heron for me.

Halcyon Digest felt like the best Deerhunter album too, although Microcastle/Weird Era Continued from 2008 was also great

I *want* to love New Amerykah part 2 but it feels like it falls off in its second half :/
― josh az (2011nostalgia), Tuesday, 17 May 2022 07:29 (two years ago) link
I thought High Violet was the National's best album, and How I Got Over is still one of the Roots' best albums - too bad they got no votes, but the competition was too much.
― birdistheword, Tuesday, 17 May 2022 14:12 (two years ago) link
xp I'd only say that's the case with "Incense"

there's gonna be a lot of slow singing and flower bringingif i keep hearing return of the ankh falls off in the second half
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 17 May 2022 15:03 (two years ago) link
i appreciate "incense"'s decisive break toward jazz fusion, harp and vocals painted stroke by stroke, the right way to transition into "out my mind" imo
― flamenco drop (BradNelson), Tuesday, 17 May 2022 15:05 (two years ago) link
def considered voting for the roots, how i got over is prob their best latter-day album

I actually voted for that Roots album that year.
My top ten would probably have (in no particular order) Deerhunter, Robyn, Kanye, Big Boi, Arcade Fire, Janelle Monáe, LCD Soundsystem, the National, the Roots and MGMT...but I feel like there's at least two or three other albums I'd want to include that aren't in that poll.
