I went to a music instrument swap in the conference room of a vaguely seedy hotel today and saw so many grey ponytails and bowling shirts that it made me think of this thread.

green snail??

the thing being absolutely hideous is the predictable punchline

Yeah, green snail is a new one for me too. Apparently refers to this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_marmoratus

Basically just another type of mother-of-pearl.

And insofar as its hideousness, I will have you know, sir, that my long-dead grandmother would have loved this thing.

haha mine probably would have too tbh

NORDSTRAND NJ4 4 STRING VINTAGE JAZZ BASS PICKUPS - $80 (Minnetonka)

These were previously installed but weren’t to my taste.
$180 retail, yours for $80 cash.

This is a vintage style single coil pickup made with 60s era correct Heavy Formvar wire, alnico V magnets, and wound with a programmable CNC winder that simulates a vintage hand wound pattern. The combination of the HF wire in correspondence with the simulated hand wind produces the pickup's lowered resonant peak, which is the source of the hypnotizing ambrosia that is the NJ4's divine high end. Between its high and low end frequencies, this pickup produces a full-bodied sound that replicates the drive synonymous with 60s vintage tone.

Simulated hand wind, is that like a VR handjob?

papal hotwife (milo z), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 19:43 (one year ago) link

haha i have no idea other than the happy ending is a hypnotizing ambrosia

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 19:49 (one year ago) link

someday science will know how to perfectly wrap a metal wire around a small cylindrical magnet. Until then, we'll have all this hypnotizing ambrosia.

New No-No Bettencourt (Sufjan Grafton), Tuesday, 1 August 2023 19:55 (one year ago) link

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that "hypnotizing ambrosia" equals "farty thuds"?

chr1sb3singer, Tuesday, 1 August 2023 20:21 (one year ago) link

that should be immediate 75% discount

actually a cool guitar but this open to trades sentence is awesome:

1983 Ibanez Artist MIJ $1650 nice shape. P 90s are in it now, I also have the original puck ups. Beautiful guitar. I will consider trades for vehicles that need work or a working pinball machine. Cash is king

Driving from MSP to Duluth so my wife can run a marathon, we pass a sign on the highway for Lino Lakes, which caused me to remember this thread and start laughing, so I had to try to explain my laughter to my wife without using the term “blues lawyer” which I couldn’t remember.

two postings, same seller....someone's wife is a real BATTLE AXE who's making him thin the herd

FS: Squire (Fender) Classic Vibe Guitar almost NOS - Burgundy Mist - $550 (Minneapolis)

For sale is a near NOS 1960’s Squire Classic Vibe in Burgundy Mist that I bought in 2014. I have been a strat collector for close to 20 years and I bought this Classic Vibe after hearing the endless talk about how unbeatable they are for the money, and that is absolutely the case. Do your diligence here – you can’t beat this if you want a strat for anywhere even close to this price. Also, the new Classic Vibes come with cheap Laurel wood fingerboards and not rosewood. This gorgeous color wasn’t made long and looks incredible.

Being generous, I played this guitar around 15-20 times and it never left my smoke-free, pet-free, mess-free humidified home - it always stayed in the case. I’m selling it because my wife wants less “stuff” in our house, and it’s hard to keep this when I have other strats that are in the $2-3000 range. If you are a beginner or serious guitarist, you will not be disappointed with this guitar. It comes with all standard accessories that you would expect with a new classic vibe, a matching purple strap, and an upgraded tail piece. It also comes with a deluxe solid hardshell case.

As I am not a guitar store, I would like to sell this to someone who knows the guitar and simply wants to buy it. If you want to try a Classic Vibe with a rosewood neck, please check with local stores and see if they have a used one to try.

My price is $550 and it is absolutely firm. Buyer must be willing to meet in SW Minneapolis near the Walker Art Center. Cash only. No PayPal, Venmo, shipping or other scams. No trades please as I need fewer guitars – not more.

FS: NOS 2014 Fender American Standard Telecaster Guitar - $1,600 (Minneapolis)

For sale is a NOS (minus trying 3 times) 2014 Fender American Standard Stratocaster in 3 tone burst. I bought this at Guitar Center in 2014, played it 3 times, and it has been in the case in my smoke-free, mess-free humidified home ever since. At the time when I bought this, I was a guitar collector and a friend managed Guitar Center. He offered to get in 6 of these and to let me pick the best one, which I did. This was my second American Standard Tele, and this one just never ended up getting played. Since the discontinuation of the American Standard series, Fender has tried to wow people with things like ugly push pots that stick out an inch from the guitar, but it seems to be pretty well accepted that the current models are not as good as the American Standard. I recently played the American Professional II and the Ultra and to me there the American Standard has a much more quintessential Tele warm twang. It’s a superb Tele, but my wife is insisting that I thin the herd, and having two of the same model is, in fact, a bit of lunacy. This guitar has never left my home and has almost never left the case.

As I am not a guitar store, I would like to sell this to someone who knows the guitar and simply wants to buy it. If you want to try an American Standard, please check with local stores and try one there.

My price is $1,600 and it is absolutely firm. Buyer must be willing to meet in SW Minneapolis near the Walker Art Center. Cash only. No PayPal, Venmo, shipping or other scams. No trades please as I need fewer guitars – not more.

Thanks for looking!
