i think hes an amazing musician but some of his programming is kinda zzzz. its kinda like 90s smooth jazz with someone soloing all over jazz+hip hop beats except hes just doing it with old 80s quiet stormy drum machines.

i like this guy but less of the if you don't know hitler youthisms please

man, i got into some major beef with a jerk on ISM about Dam-Funk, where i said that his productions are excellent but his DJ sets are spotty. the guy attacked me for no reason, saying i had no right to diss such a great producer, and i was like, "dude, you can't read. if a guy train-wrecks again and again and again during a DJ set, i'm not going to lick his balls."

anyway, yeah, seen him live a few times, totally spotty. can be so damn good you drip just listening to it or so bad that you get 'tard tingles.

he 'trainwrecks' all over the place on that BBC mix & its still my fav mix ive heard this year

i loved it for the first hour i listened to it, then got a little bored second time, not sure I've even listened once since.

not even a criticism necessarily...but that's what happened.

i have to say his mixing was fairly tight last night and his "vocal stylings" were in key and on point ... i just found the selection of music he played to be much, much less compelling than what i've heard from toeachizown

everything he played sounded like a version of "atomic dog" minus the mids and treble, which is not the great thing it sounds like on paper

i like some of the vocal stuff except the part in the bbc one where he says something about "if a fella asks you to dance and you say no, i'm going to be annoyed." or something.

i mean seriously that's pretty creepy.

blah blah blah 'i don't care about trainwrecks.' maybe true, but i do. if you're not going to do proper mixes, then just play the songs sans mixing. it will be much more pleasant that way, imho.

not sure what the winky face is about, but makes so much sense. i've got a buddy who's a record dealer, and friends w/dam and the stonesthrow crew, and all he deals in anymore is boogie and modern soul. told me he sold a boogie 7" for $4000.

the second EP is just insanely epic & amazing

so stoked about the fourth one dropping

dude has flyers up at some of the venues on this tour and i'm always tempted to call a sick week and stick around town for his set

Hood Pass Intact IS unstoppable. unfortunately, i don't really find any of the other tracks on 'Hood' as compelling. but that track alone is just....damn.

I for one welcome Jordan's prior HitlerYouthisms as they got me into this. Hoping the proper album drops in time for me to convince everyone to make it "album of the week" on our "funk" episode of DAA.

Just grabbed the album now. As usual, I am two to three months behind ILM on everything. Perpetually sleeping. Missed seeing him in Montreal back in September at a tiny loft/club. Will smack myself in the head repeatedly for the next day or two.

Is it still possible to track down those original EPs, though? It appears as though the tracks have been significantly shortened on the full-length album. Or am I misreading this information?

really? it's being released as a 2CD and a 5LP...

as far as i know, the "album" is just the 5 EPs...

Look at the track lengths. All I know is that my version of the title track is 2 minutes long and on the original EP it is apparently 5. This is not the only instance of this. Also, there are at least two tracks not on the full-length? Can't figure out which ones.

But confused bitching about album/EP inconsistency aside, this is really something else.
