The XX

mccannesque outrage (onimo), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 20:23 (fourteen years ago) link

they describe their influences as everything from Aaliyah to Cocorosie, Rhianna to The Cure, Missy Elliott to The Chromatics and Mariah Carey to The Pixies

no shirley basey in a lift? Psychedia Smith?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 20:24 (fourteen years ago) link

They sound like a slightly less dynamic Morcheeba.

ok i so do not want to ever hear them now

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 20:26 (fourteen years ago) link

You listen to a million songs a day surely you can fit in another six or so rather than going by one inaccurate quote and a bunch of influences that do not add up to the whole?

mccannesque outrage (onimo), Wednesday, 2 September 2009 20:28 (fourteen years ago) link

Have you emailed them to see what they say about it?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:28 (fourteen years ago) link

sonderangerbot, Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:29 (fourteen years ago) link

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:29 (fourteen years ago) link

Starting today you’ll be able to purchase Spotify Premium months in over 500 Pressbyrån and 7-Eleven stores in Sweden. You can purchase either one, three, six or twelve months of Spotify Premium directly from the store counter, just like you would top-up a mobile or buy train ticket.

You’ll receive a receipt that contains a code. Log into the Spotify website and enter that code on the premium purchase page and your account will be immediately upgraded so that you can start enjoying the benefits of a premium subscription.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:31 (fourteen years ago) link

nah. but there is a not available in your country YET notice when i try to register, so why bother.

haha
When we introduced the sharing feature, a lot of you requested a simple way of sharing the music you are listening to on Twitter. With Spotify 0.3.19, you can.

http://pansentient.com/2009/08/spotify-fm-new-last-fm-mashup/

There are several mashup apps that help you find new releases on Spotify based on your listening habits scrobbled to Last.fm (here’s the complete list). The newest and possibly the best yet is Spotify.fm from developer Frank Quist. Spotify.fm includes several unique features you won’t find elsewhere, such as an RSS feed and the ability to search new releases based on both your Last.fm username or genre.

Spotify.fm lists the most recent releases (going back 6 months) from your favourite artists. Enter your Last.fm username to display a list sorted by date released on Spotify then by artist:

I'm sure someone here was looking for that feature.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:35 (fourteen years ago) link

the only problem i have with the free version is the ads, still haven't decided if it's worth the bucks to get rid of them though. the day pass thing on the other hand is pretty neat.

sonderangerbot, Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:36 (fourteen years ago) link

That's pretty cool, esp the RSS feed.

Ads still aren't bothering me that much, but I still think if it was £5 a month I'd pay right away. If I was having a party I'd probably pay for a day pass though.

j.o.n.a, Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:41 (fourteen years ago) link

I was thinking about maybe subscribing for a month just to try Premium but dunno if it's worth it. Anything else to it apart from no ads?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:48 (fourteen years ago) link

Better quality I think (320kbps?) but I mike-t-diva I think posted in the Spotify thread that if you plug it into a good hi-fi it's nowhere near cd-quality.

j.o.n.a, Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:51 (fourteen years ago) link

erm, I'm not mike, obviously.

j.o.n.a, Thursday, 3 September 2009 12:52 (fourteen years ago) link

I just use spotify on my laptop really. Though my desktop is plugged into (an old) stereo.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 13:00 (fourteen years ago) link

ok lets try

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 13:00 (fourteen years ago) link

My Results

last.fm recommended artists results <--- this one could be quite handy.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 3 September 2009 13:05 (fourteen years ago) link

Recommended's not so good for me, maybe I need to spend more time with last.fm telling it about things I don't actually like, also slightly hindered by Spotify's relaxed approach to artists with the same name, suggesting I listen to the following Ian Brown releases:
Gaubert: Complete Works For Flute And Piano
Beethoven: Serenade In D Major / Piano Trio In G Major / Duo No. 1 In C Major
Elgar: String Quartet / Piano Quintet

Unless that is what he's been doing recently, in which case I'm mildly intrigued.

j.o.n.a, Thursday, 3 September 2009 13:10 (fourteen years ago) link

I delete most of the last.fm recommendations. Unless there's far too many so I give up.
