kanye crashing the stage was a dick move (although i'm too entertained to be mad at him) but bringing up his mother was worse than anything kanye did yesterday. ick.
― musically, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 03:33 (fifteen years ago) link
concur, even if Kanye made his mother's death a prominent part of his whole public persona at the time, that's his right as 1) an artist and 2) a guy who's dealing with a huge loss. it's not for anybody else to wave that at him
on the other hand, Kanye not really in any position to tell anybody to quit bein' a dick

Kanye referred to what "my mother would've said" in his first blog apology, don't think it was necessarily off-limits or surprising for Leno to go there.

Look, I am as bored of this story as anybody here, but there's a new development about this all being a stunt planned by Jay-z.
And, no, I don't have deep connections in hip-hop (surprise! surprise!), but I do have someone who works for Jay-Z blabbing away on a small, private message board somewhere over the internet rainbow. *drudge sirens* I'll post his thread if you want.

Topic one about it:
i was talking to a friend who works in development at mtv and was at the vmas last night, she said that "the outburst wasn't unexpected" but refused to give more details. and some other things that basically hinted that mtv planned the whole thing for attention xfd
That's totally separate from the JayZ employee, but I know that guy personally and he's legit. Here's the Jay-Z employee blabbing away on his own thread:
This was all a huge publicity stunt set up by Jay-Z. MTV wanted him to perform at the end of the show and he said on one condition - they gave Beyonce a performance and made her look good. And so, the whole Taylor Swift fiasco was born. Jay called up Kanye and asked him to do it for him because Kanye doesn't mind being seen as a jackass and it'd be believable if he did it. So when Beyonce let Taylor finish her speech instead of making her own speech, everyone thought "Wow, Beyonce really is a class act!" and Jay-Z finished off the show with his performance.
Jay also did a similar thing with Oprah. He told Oprah that the only way Beyonce would go on her show was if she also allowed Jay on because Oprah never had a rapper on her show before.
Basically, Jay-Z is leveraging his relationship with Beyonce for more fame/recognition and vice versa.
I could also go into why he made Blueprint 3 if you want.
Here are the rests of his posts.
lolI could also go into why he made Blueprint 3 if you want.
sure do it
Quite simply, look at the featured artists on BP3. He has a large stake in GOOD Music, which is Kanye's label and both Kid Cudi and Mr. Hudson are signed to it. Similarly, Roc Nation is his label and J. Cole is signed to it and he was trying to sign Drake to Roc Nation too for around 2 million dollars, but that fell through. Alicia Keys is on it because she's dating Swizz Beatz and Luke Steele is on it for the indie fans (also why Jay was seen at Grizzly Bear with Beyonce).
Blueprint 3 is just Jay-Z's investment plan.
...
Taylor Swift was chosen for obvious reasons: She has the country fanbase locked up and was up for a lesser award against Beyonce.
Except for the fact that she loved the idea and happily went along with it.
From: ************* 18 | Posted: 9/14/2009 09:49:15 PMi dont know why kanye would sacrifice his image
Watch the Jay Leno show tonight to understand why. He also doesn't give a fuck.

From: ******** | Posted: 9/14/2009 10:18:00 PMhow many cars were in his motorcade? i know the answer, do you?
6, led by Jay in his Maybach iirc
From: ***** | Posted: 9/14/2009 10:24:12 PMbut according to ***** (and my friend), it was scripted
afaik, T-Swizzy knew about it, the whole Jay crew knew about it, and the producers knew about it. I don't recall any producers freaking out over it, but that was probably scripted too if they did.
From: ***** X | Posted: 9/14/2009 10:36:45 PMcouldn't it have been just a thing kept between rocknation's people and not having anything to do with MTV at all?
In order for Jay to perform, Beyonce needed to get great publicity. Why do you think Taylor come out with microphone in hand from backstage as if she knew it was gonna happen when Beyonce called on her?
I have no clue what went down at mtv, just the deal Jay struck
From: **** | Posted: 9/14/2009 10:54:46 PMDid you see Kanye on Leno? He was dummbbbbfounded. Because that's just the way he is. Jay-Z could have done that but Kanye isn't that good of an actor I don't think.
Also staged to get the sympathy vote and also take a well-deserved vacation.
From: ******** | Posted: 9/14/2009 10:56:47 PMkanye seemed like he was doing it just to cause a stir, imo.
i don't know if it's been asked, but why would you post all that if you work for them?
We're leaking it to the tabloids anyways for more publicity and for Jay-Z to be seen as a genius.
Everyone wins.
veeeeeeeery interesting.. some more proof of any kind wouldnt hurt though
It should be on MTO in the next few days, I'll make sure to link it if it is.
But it seems they want to play the Jay-Z/Rihanna relationship angle right now because they hate Jay with a passion and always claim Beyonce hates him.
www.mediatakeout.com
Its like Perez Hilton or National Enquirer for black people pretty much.
I feel like a bit of a moron spending ten minutes bringing all that here, but that's it so far. There were some other posts on verifying the guy as a legit employee of Jay-Z but I didn't post that. He posted pictures and all sorts of lame crap, though.

so Jay had been irradiating MCA's mint leaves that he pulls from his own private garden to make mojitos for like three months. So when he gets cancer and the Beastie Boys cancel, who's gonna step in to APW just as he needs the publicity to support the new album? Like that was an "accident"?

Dangermouse had never even HEARD of the Beatles until a teenaged Sean Carter, with the foresight that betrayed him as a future mover and shaker, started sending him reel to reels of Abbey Road and Help! So flash forward to 2003 and Jay's selling well with the Black Album but long-term issue: no real internet presence. Dangermouse makes the Grey Album. BANG. Instant internet sensation.
Dangermouse was totally on board with all this of course

so Jay calls Brett and is like 'Look, I came back a few times myself. Do what you do big man' and Brett is like YEAH MORE FUN. Meanwhile Jay's already got Peterson on lock for a four album deal but only once his football career is over. So Favre implodes the team, Peterson retires early in 2011, drops his first album "28 and First" on Jay's new label and becomes the biggest star in country music.
We're leaking it to Perez Hilton shortly for more publicity; just waiting for Roger Goodell to sign off.
