Is 'Listen To This Now' a guarantee of a top record?

Are there any records where the singer says, before starting the new verse, "Now listen to this" or "listen to me now", that aren't fantastic? I can't think of any exceptions.

(Obviously this is because this trope is mainly characteristic of deep soul of the preaching tendency, and all such records are magnificent. But are there any exceptions, whatever the genre?)

I suppose there is an exception, if "stop, collaborate and listen" actually counts.

There must be hip-hop exceptions, though I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Nate that one is the *confirmation* of the rule.

my favorite version of this is when on a studio recording, the singer says: "just watch me now". I'm thinking VU - "Sweet Jane" here, but also "Star" on Ziggy Stardust.

uh... it's of course ironic because you can't actually see said singer.
