I think what was meant by "ironic" was "you're not cool".

Avoid like the plague all those sincere, major-label "noise" bands.

replace "cool" with "clever". or "witty." or "mildly tolerable."

I really didn't mean any offense by that, Jess. I'm sorry if any was taken. To be honest with you, I think your writing is wonderful, and your taste is admirable, but your ILM persona is pretty rough on fringe posters such as myself. Realize, we're not trying to ruin ILM, we just want to LOVE MUSIC along side you.

A.V. Alexandre (Keiko), Tuesday, 22 October 2002 21:04 (twenty-three years ago)

hmmmm.
I don't get the question. do you want to destroy all the noise bands because you don't like them, or are you looking for recommendations?
thet first poster confused me more by spieling a row of utter crap schmooze-rock. now I really can't tell how much y'all suck.

here's where to start, says me, w. tha nu wave of battering, brutal prog costume rock, a minority of which is dum & rockist. I choose to interpret yr query by listing the good.

Lightning Bolt; new Black Dice album; Oneida 2LP; Interferents 2nd CD; Oxxxes; Wayne Rogers & Kate Biggar; Ruins; Acid Mothers Temple; Simply Saucer (1974); No Neck Blues Band; Ram Umbus; Electro Fetus; Laddio Bolocko; Daniel Carter; Wolf Eyes; US Maple.

furthermore, don't even try to explore this realm w/o a solid background in VU, Throbbing Gristle, Stooges, Devo, Can, and electric era Miles Davis.

representin' BK to tha fullest,

In most of the reviews Ive read, people enjoy the White Stripes cause theyre NOT ironic.

David Allen, Wednesday, 23 October 2002 01:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Silly David, all bands are enjoyed ironically now, as laid out by the Smuggo Act of 1993.
