So what's the last song that left you laughing?
― Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 24 October 2002 12:23 (twenty-three years ago)
its usually just a bit in a song tho - i used to laugh whenever Jarvis bitterly sniped 'cos you're so bleedin' thick!' in 'Mis-Shapes'
i think 'Rabbit' by Chas n Dave is funny too
and obv there's loads of funny hip hop lyrics - Eminem blah blah

Had anyone really ever called you that Mr Pursey (before you wrote that alleged "song" I mean); and what led them to believe that you can hear the sounds of Bow Bells from 25 miles away, out WEST of London in the leafy suburbs of Surrey?
On this basis, by my reckoning, half the population of Berks, Herts, Essex and Kent must all be bleedin' Cockneys too.

Some folks may consider Ween to be a novelty act, i don't, and Mister Richard Smoker is one tune that makes me giggle like a little school girl.
Brinx Job by Pavement always gives me a little rise as i imagine playing it once my "lottery ship" comes in.

Other punk and post punk stuff was suprisingly full of genuinely witty stuff, rather than embarrassing fluffs like that one:
The early Buzzcocks are full of funnies, Pete Shelley is/was a 'punk' Oscar Wilde if ever there was one. Orgasm Addict, especially where he 'comes'; most of the very clever lyric to 'Time's Up'; the 'bdum bdum' pun in 'Boredom'.
Indeed this kind of righteous, slightly camp wit-driven-by-fury can be found in the Pistols, the Stranglers, the Damned, ATV and others. The Dead Kennedys brand of humour is a bit more po-faced, but I always enjoyed the suede-denim secret police coming for his uncool neice.
A little more recently, The bit in Morrissey's Suedehead b side where he says 'this is the last song I shall ever sing *cheer* - oh no I've changed my mind again *boo* - goodnight, and thank you' always raises a chuckle. And the Associate's Remix album has some bass solos by John Dempsey that really crack me up - yes, even bass lines can be funny.
Finally in China I have heard: - the Dragon's version of Anarchy in the UK- A Cantonese version of that drinking song 'Land Down Under'- and an instrumental version of Blue Monday designed for teaching people the two-step.
Only the first of these is meant to be funny.

Fishbone's "Housework" makes me laugh, not because it's funny, but because it's so fun. Same for Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Magic Johnson".
