Sorry if this has been done.
After a shaky start, I'm for Fame Academy. Popstars has too narrow standards. Everyone is aiming for precisely the same thing. You cannot say anything about anybody's performance execept "it was quite good" or "it wasn't so good".
Fame Academy, meanwhile, has really mad performances, like when Marli (who I fancy) went daft with the Natalie Imbruglia stuff, spreading her legs on a sofa while the wind machine blew her hair into the eighties.
It also has the more critical judges, like the red-haired singing teacher (who I really, really fancy).
Meanwhile Popstars only obtains drama through sentimentality - Davina tonight crying when the guy who was two months too old volunteered to leave to stop the torture of other people being thrown off. Of course, two people had to go, so someone was voted off anyway - and it wasn't Chris, the (most) ugly and talentless one, which pissed me off.

obv. fame academy because ainsley is so rubbish. especially for his tortured face when the black kid let loose some soul on 'pride in the name of love' and him looking disconcerted because it was not sticking to the guidelines. and seeing weirdo christian booted off after a bad 'i can see clearly now...'
popstars the rivals - some of the performances are so bad - will you love me tomorrow - arggh - he deserved to be kicked out because he was so torturous!!! plus he looked like an elongated version of gareth gates with acne.
by the by - flipped through a gareth gates book in woolworths and found this quote - "i just want to feed the hungry, clothe the homeless and help the hurting".

Fame Academy by a mile - even my brood hate the poprival cheezemongers. Ainsley - will his head explode with all the praise before the others kill him ?, Katie - sobblubblub, Lamarr + Marli are great, I doubt Sinead will win but i like her voice.
Shania Twain, Enreeky, Anastacia + Lionel Ritchie beat David Gates anyday. Waterman + Walsh are increasingly boring, Geri is more cringeworthy . There are only two good girl singers and three great boyz.
Nigel is a sweaty beast, balding, pockridden - it's fuckin' excellent how you can tell the others think he shouldn't still be there (bbbut it's still ROCKtober!).
