If there's been a worse single this year, I've yet to hear it.

TMFTML (TMFTML), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 19:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, but this one just sounds like the Manics waiting to die...

Some might not think that a bad thing, but they're not even pretending it isn't a cash-in, and yet it still got to number 6. Just really depressing...

(insert "Sean ate Richey" joke)

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 19:54 (twenty-three years ago)

What's even worse is their threat that after this they are "going to do a Kid-A'.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 20:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Weren't they supposed to break up and kill themselves after their first album? Shouldn't we hold them to that claim?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 20:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Not just after the first album Alex, as I recall they weren't going to carry on without Richey, then they were just going to do one more album 'cos they had all these lyrics Richey had written....

To quote what should have been their swansong, they're doomed to newspaper cuttings of their glory days.

Nicky Wire could stand for the Welsh Assembly next May against an arch-Blairite, and pick up the support of the disillusioned Old Labour supporters in the valleys who went for Plaid Cymru last time. That would be a better future career than continuing the band.

My God, a pop band having the gall to PUT OUT RECORDS and use crappy publicity GIMMICKS to sell more of them? I'm staggered. Yeah it is all a bit unpleasantly cynical re; their "politics" and Richey, but that's what happens, isn't it?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 31 October 2002 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

They've been feeble for so long now it hardly matters.
