I think it's the best and most enduring *prog-pop* single as well (compare to how utterly trapped in the past even 10cc's best songs are): they needn't have done anything else after this, really.

And if you want prog-pop, check out Derrero - http://www.derrero.com/ - they're wondrous.

Could anyone make this (sort of) record now and get a hit with it?

and that's why I don't think it could be a hit now, Tom. it sounds *period*, but yearningly so, in a good way (not the horrible 10cc way)

Fool's Garden were the ones who did "Lemon Tree", weren't they? Siegbran will be after me, but they weren't as good as Modern Talking.

I will break with what I perceive is the majority opinion here among those who have heard it and say that I think Famous Last Words (their last album with Hodgson) is a great album. The whole first side is ace (okay, maybe "Bonnie" drags and the lyrics to "Put On Your Old Brown Shoes" is kinda lame, but etc...), and though I can't believe I'm actually admitting this in public, I really do like "My Kind of Lady".
