Techno pop from Russia's underground scene. Only one EP so far but I think she might be one of the 'new artists' to watch in 2016. It sounds like something we've heard a thousand times before but it's standing out from everything I've listened in the past month the more I listen to it.

Here's some vids. Played it earlier for a friend and she described it as how Grouper would sound if remixed by Aphex Twin.

Now, everything is so blurred, the boundaries and sheer amount of music is staggering. I think in this age of information technology people like tracks more than artists and certain styles of contemporary electronic music can quickly become boring. If we talk about older, established artists that I think create music that has much stronger ties to their personal reality, some of my favorites I still love to listen to are Spacemen 3, Mazzy Star, Angelo Badalamenti, Sonic Youth, Afrika Bambaataa and many many others. On the other hand, I feel electronic music is based on other principles and criteria and perception of a different type, therefore I should probably talk about the tracks for the most part but I will name some artists anyway: Boards of Canada, Autechre, Leonardo Martelli, Legowelt, Patricia, Florian Kupfer and Inga Copeland. I really like dub and old school jungle, electro and etc. And much love to the music from Russian labels GOST and Johns Kingdom!
Not surprisingly from seeing the videos, cinema is also a major interest of hers.

"Livanskiy...described the song to i-D as 'the stupidest one on the album' in terms of lyrics. The video starts out with some synchronised group dancing by the Leningrad Optical Mechanical Association factory in the St Petersburg suburbs and continues to cult rock club Griboedov before moving to a party on a speedboat. Kedrina says that the video was shot on the money that she made while playing a gig at the same club, and that the capitain of the rented boat was most definitely freaked out by her tying up a naked guy and hitting him with roses"(Calvert Journal)

Album has not been nominated yet for our EOY pole. I don't like it overall quite enough to vote for it so not nominating it, but I wondered if you realized it wasn't on the list, since you did nominate other things.

Her first new track for a while, "Ariadna". https://soundcloud.com/2mrecords/kedr-livanskiy-ariadna
Also, a nice new mix she's made for The Fader. If you're currently in the depths of winter, you might prefer this one from 6 months ago.
