42 minutes is the perfect length for most pop/rock albums, and even for other kinds of albums (sometimes).

let's go!

here's all i can get at, for now:

Ophelia's Dream -- All Beauty Is Sad
Joy Zipper -- American Whip
Christian Death -- Ashes
black tape for a blue girl -- ashes in the brittle air
Teenage Fanclub --Bandwagonesque
Would-Be-Goods -- The Camera Loves Me
Ian McCulloch -- Candleland
Lycia -- Empty Space
Roxy Music -- For Your Pleasure
Thursday -- Full Collapse
The Cardigans -- Gran Turismo
Saint Etienne -- I Love To Paint
Radiohead -- In Rainbows
Trixie's Big Red Motorbike -- The Intimate Sound Of
Ultra Vivid Scene -- Joy 1967-1990
The Free Design -- Kites Are Fun
Wandering Lucy -- Leap Year
Larry Heard (Mr Fingers) -- Les Parrains De La House
The Harvest Ministers -- Little Dark Mansion
Sister Vanilla -- Little Pop Rock
Various Artists -- Lonely Is An Eyesore
Lois -- Lowrider
Morrissey -- Maladjusted
Cocteau Twins -- Milk & Kisses
Amber Asylum -- The Natural Philosophy Of Love
Nirvana -- Nevermind
Harold Budd/Brian Eno -- The Pearl
The Birthday Party -- Prayers On Fire
The Jesus And Mary Chain -- Psychocandy
Devendra Banhart -- Rejoicing In The Hands
Fugazi -- Repeater + 3 Songs
Landing -- Seasons
The Hope Blister -- ...smile's OK
Various Artists -- The Sound Of Music: An Anti-Racist Benefit
Dif Juz -- Soundpool
Red Sleeping Beauty -- Soundtrack
Khvarena -- The Spirit Rises
THE SUNDAYS -- STATIC & SILENCE
Taking Back Sunday -- Tell All Your Friends [some kind of reissue]
Lync -- These Are Not Fall Colors
Le Tigre -- This Island
Galaxie 500 -- Today
One Way Letter -- Where Everybody Knows Your Name
Breathless -- 1988-02-02 [a bootleg i have]

i guess that's all i got for now, but i'm CERTAINLY missing tons of wonderful stuff.
there is, unfortunately, no easy way to figure this out through an iTunes Smart Playlist -- these were just a few albums i found.

please add to this thread. i feel very strongly that albums around the 42-minute mark are better, and are onto something. . .

Albums should have 9 songs. Most of the songs are about 3 or 4 minutes long, but one of the songs is 6 minutes long. That means the best album is no more than 38 minutes long.
