I seriously just got into a car accident about two hours ago while Hard Times was playing on my car stereo. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and I am pretty sure the other driver's insurance will have to pay (I was rear-ended while being forced to stop during a right-hand turn), but my care looks like crap even more than it did before. Some sort of sign.

good show. the fleetwood mac cover is really good.

Now that the album has been, alas, a resounding flop I wonder what's next.
― morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 5 October 2017 14:54 (six years ago) link
Hopefully they're still doing well enough as a touring act that soft sales don't matter so much?
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Thursday, 5 October 2017 14:59 (six years ago) link
I think I'm the only one here who hates the new album, but would they still be worth seeing if I'm not into the new stuff? They're coming in December but I don't think I can take 90 minutes of polyrhythmic beach party Paramore
― Evan R, Thursday, 5 October 2017 15:07 (six years ago) link
There are a lot of videos and setlists available from the tour. They are playing plenty of older stuff.
I had tickets to their DC show, but found out a couple weeks ahead of time that I couldn't make it. Put my tickets up for sale online and no one bought them. There were several other sellers there, all seemingly trying desperately to unload tickets and taking losses at the last minute. As far as I know none of them sold. This was my first time trying to sell tickets online, so I don't know if this is the usual experience, but I would have thought there would have been more demand for Paramore in a 3,000-seater.
― how's life, Thursday, 5 October 2017 15:13 (six years ago) link
the album isn't even 40 minutes of polyrhythmic beach party paramore
― ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Thursday, 5 October 2017 15:18 (six years ago) link
I just busted out the album for the first time in a while this week and the polyrhythmic beach party still holds up really well for me.
― how's life, Thursday, 5 October 2017 15:19 (six years ago) link
they play hard times, told you so, rose colored boy, forgiveness, fake happy, 26 and caught in the middle, everything else is old ... it was a very tight set list i thought
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 October 2017 16:38 (six years ago) link
the first 6 songs on the album are fav stretch of any album i've heard this year... still warming up slowly to the back half
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 October 2017 16:39 (six years ago) link
they sold out radio city last night (6,000 cap) but idk what that means really
i don't think this album not catching on means much ultimately... i think they're a pop band now but wouldn't imagine them making more songs that sound like "hard times" et al anyway
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 October 2017 16:41 (six years ago) link
Yeah, I'm sure the next album cycle will bring more change.
― how's life, Thursday, 5 October 2017 16:48 (six years ago) link
hopefully Taylor York won't learn one new guitar trick and hammer it into the ground on the next record

strong disagree
― a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Thursday, 5 October 2017 16:55 (six years ago) link
lol, just the way you phrased that makes me hope he assiduously throws himself into Steve Vai and the next paramore album is all arpeggio runs, whammy bar, and pinch harmonics.
― how's life, Thursday, 5 October 2017 17:19 (six years ago) link
Taylor York has stepped up to every challenge since 2010.
― morning wood truancy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 5 October 2017 17:49 (six years ago) link
i can't disagree harder w/ any opinion than the idea that those guitar parts on the paramore album aren't awesome
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:11 (six years ago) link
yeah I wish I felt the same way. They sound tacky as fuck to me, and unfortunately the album's best written songs are the ones that lay them on thickest. Like, the whole album is a wash for me, I can have my pick of either second-tier material or good songs saturated in a shtick I find insufferable.
― Evan R, Thursday, 5 October 2017 19:25 (six years ago) link
again, not trying to change anybody's mind on this; I know I'm pretty much alone in this opinion in this thread. Just bummed about it. This was maybe the album I was looking forward to the most this year

i don't really get this video at all but i'm glad they're pushing this one as a single. think it could be the hit from this album.

I love this song
― Evan R, Friday, 17 November 2017 17:21 (six years ago) link
Fake Happy is my favourite song on the album. Hope it can do an Ain't It Fun and give them a slow burning hit single. I'm still in shock at the commercial performance for this album. It should be huge.
― kitchen person, Friday, 17 November 2017 17:32 (six years ago) link
I think the album is fine for what it is but a pretty poor use of this band and Hayley William's vast skill set. It definitely doesn't sound like it should be huge to me, the charts weren't really clamoring for a bunch of polyrhymic 80s throwbacks. Most of it just feels kinda silly and disposable to me; it doesn't have the heft or longevity of the three albums before it.
― Evan R, Friday, 17 November 2017 17:50 (six years ago) link
I'm still hoping there are a bunch of outtakes from these sessions that eventually see daylight. I respect that they opted to make a fairly tight record, but after the four year wait between albums this just feels slight and incomplete to me

― Spottie, Saturday, 18 November 2017 01:23 (six years ago) link
it's a good album but was under-promoted and feels more like their indie album than their pop album so the performance isn't surprising
― ufo, Saturday, 18 November 2017 02:26 (six years ago) link
It could been promoted 24 hours a day in 2017 and it wouldn't have made a difference. These songs don't fit formats.

Anybody seen this tour? Weird moment from last night's show: Zac sang a song about Scooby during the encore, and the crowd seemed totally lost. Couldn't quite understand what was going on.
I was bummed they didn't do "Now." "Fake Happy" and "Ain't it Fun" killed though
― Evan R, Saturday, 2 December 2017 19:31 (six years ago) link

New Hayley interview! This podcast focuses on beauty/makeup and Hayley's on there to promote her latest GoodDyeYoung product, but she talks a lot of Paramore as well.. About halfway through they get DEEP into skincare products which I found interesting but is alien territory for me so I haven't finished the ep yet. But she has a good rapport with the interviewer. The conversation feels honest and open and friendly and not very press junket-ish, which some of the other AL-cycle interviews suffer from.
