Have a good amount of their stuff. I appreciate the unwavering commitment to aesthetic.

I know the Foodman from last year and Darren Keen from this year -- both wonky footwork-influenced records. However, the absolute best thing I have heard from here is Machine Girl - Gemini, which is kind of like breakbeat footwork, showing some influence from folks like Lone, Zomby, Squarepusher. Really fun.

Idk I love the airbrush work but none of the music really hits me. The Ventla album is fun, though..

Hausu and Constellation Tatsu are both great through and through. You can get the latter's discography on Bandcamp for a pretty good deal IIRC.

the Nmesh album they just released is soooo fuckin good
I've bought 5 from these guys and so far they're 5 for 5, what do you guys recommend
― frogbs, Thursday, 10 August 2017 03:41 (six years ago) link
well okay then, I'll start, Dolby's ON by Bataille Solaire is incredible, not only incredibly busy but also strangely catchy. every time I hear it I like it more. as an RYM reviewer put it "This is what baby boomers feared electronic music would become."

new death's dynamic shroud (I guess they dropped the wmv)https://orangemilkrecords.bandcamp.com/album/heavy-black-heart
what I like about these guys is that you don't actually have to be nostalgic for the 80s, video games or anime to like it, that stuff just happens to be the sample base of their intricately crafted glitch pop
― Dominique, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 19:35 (six years ago) link
I've probably posted this before but it really did blow my mind to see the source for the last track on I'll Try Living Like This was some throwaway credit music from an obscure Sonic game, because it hits me so hard
― frogbs, Wednesday, 16 August 2017 19:40 (six years ago) link
uggggh that track is so relaxing

Orange Milk are currently offering their entire digital discography (94 releases) for $53 / 90% off (just bought). Not sure how long for.
Also, there's a nice primer on recent OM releases in this recent show on Red Bull Radio: https://www.redbullradio.com/shows/adam-harpers-bubblebath/episodes/electronic-evocations

53 bucks is a good chunk for a bunch of artists I've never heard of, but on the other hand, if I was ever gonna deep dive into a label and everything they do, this would be the one...

geez and they donate the money to Houston too. all right, fine

and that Machine Girl:https://orangemilkrecords.bandcamp.com/album/because-im-young-arrogant-and-hate-everything-you-stand-for
Very different affair than last full length, tho maybe closer to what I've seen of their live shows. Essentially, internet-era digital hardcore, with almost Death Grips-like intensity. need to listen more, because I wasn't expecting this, but it's definitely a THING
― Dominique, Thursday, 28 September 2017 22:00 (six years ago) link
this is greatreminds me of that fire-toolz record from earlier this year
― nxd, Friday, 29 September 2017 08:43 (six years ago) link
I am really enjoying Heavy Black Heart, it falls off in the second half a little but at its best it reminds me of Rival Dealer. I'm a bit surprised to like it so much since I'd previously completely bounced off most vaporwave (is this still that?) in the past, what else should I listen to in this vein?
― ufo, Tuesday, 3 October 2017 08:02 (six years ago) link
i really enjoyed their record from last year, classroom sexxtape - 'rare emoji collection' and 'side' probs my two choice cuts from itthis record probably reminds me more of arca's record from this year, holly herndon and katie gately over most vw stuff
― nxd, Tuesday, 3 October 2017 08:43 (six years ago) link
good calls i think

Love this Machine Girl album. And yes, the Fire-Toolz album on Hausu Mountain, mentioned by nxd, is amazing.

Could anyone help me figure out the best releases they put out this year? I tend to shy away from the more abraisve/bonkers things they do, but their Bandcamp is so overwhelming I don't know where to start.
― afriendlypioneer, Friday, 15 December 2017 19:15 (six years ago) link
my fav. from last year was nv - binasu
the death's dynamic shroud album is nice
I loved Pharma by Nmesh but you may want to sample a track like "Basscop" or "Mall Full of Drugs" because "abrasive" and "bonkers" both describe this album pretty well
honestly I'm thinking about just getting everything. it's $56.60 for like 100 albums. I'll bet at least 10 of those are fantastic and most of the rest are probably worth hearing as well.
