Royal Trux European Tour Recordings

Was wondering if anyone knew of any recordings of the latest Royal Trux comeback shows? Other than the one song long youtube videos. Looking for whole shows but I don't think anyone nowadays matches the intensity of the old concert tapers back in the day.

I've got a 35 folder collection of Royal Trux shows from 1990 to 2000.

@na I already got my order of the vinyl & cassette of this album. I'm pretty let down actually. I'm a big Trux fan- but jeez Jennifer nearly ruins a good hunk of those songs. Unapologetically even. I've read that big rtx-usa site interview compilation about how they're "nobody's jukebox", they're doing what they want at the expense of the crowd. I love that attitude. I support that attitude- BUT that doesn't change the fact that she's barely conscious half the time on Platinum Tips & Ice Cream.

I know they're going for that whole "off the cuff" - "playing a song based on the memory of it" type of thing. That's cool in a way.- BUT, the recordings you see on youtube of the Euro shows will tell you they came back after all these years, barely re-learned the songs, and have been building these "new versions" show by show into something completely different than the first comeback shows.

Still glad they came back. Hoping for more. I saw them in Austin at Hotel Vegas and the show was fantastic. Neil really is one of the greatest guitarists around.

I suppose if I'm opening a Trux post I oughta take this moment to ask:

If anyone has any bootleg shows or especially the ST VITUS - TWIN INFINITIVES SHOW recorded, I have been desperately hunting for it.

I have ONE recording of NY Avenue Bridge on that dropbox at the bottom of the list. Someone (i won't go plastering names around) on tumblr posted this fragment and a photo from the show. I've reached out to them about having more recordings from that show but they won't talk to me.

Same with this one facebook/twitter blog No-Core. They made a tweet implying they had recordings and that they'd send them out to me. Never replied again after that.

i was just being a dick with my post. i was at the chicago reunion show and yeah it kind of sank or swam based on how engaged jennifer was in each song, though the whole thing was still enjoyable in the abstract. i think the live album (based on just one listen) is pretty interesting in dealing with a career's worth of varied-sounding songs with one sound/style; obviously it doesn't all work but it's a cool experiment.

"Jennifer remembered. When they pulled into Austin to play Emo’s around that time, the duo took the stage with a primitive drum machine mixed at twice the volume of Herrema’s vocals and Hagerty replaced his guitar with a screeching violin. “Neil wanted to do something different and that was his vision for the tour, playing with the violin,” Herrema said. For fans expecting to hear the band’s best material to date, it was obdurate and punishing, and it remains one of the biggest ‘fuck you’ shows I’ve ever seen. But that particular incarnation of Royal Trux was never recorded..."

Now THAT would be an incredible recording to hear

Saw them at Primavera Porto last week, in the sunshine. They're still great.

@lag∞n is there any more information you can give on this show? That's an amazing sight to see. Did they still set out to play the songs in full/normal arrangements just w/diff instruments? or were they warped versions? Was it just the two of them? Did he still sing while doing all this? any other info that comes to your mind i'm interested in hearing :)

it was a long time ago but iirc, downstairs at the middle east in cambridge ma, it was just the two of them, the songs were pretty unrecognizable, it was very noisy
