Since this stage of Cave's career seems to be definitively over I've been revisiting these great albums. There's not a bad song in the batch. Not polling the remixes but feel free to factor those in or whatever

"2" is one of my favorite records, love the mix of psychedelic & noisy rock, the first is no slouch but the second one is up there in the Cave canon for me.

I'm probably picking "Kitchenette", in part cuz of the live "tippy-toe tippy-toe" improv section

Also would be interesting to mix in "Get Ready for Love", "Nature Boy", "Lyre of Orpheus" and "Spell" from "Abattoir Blues/Lyre Of Orpheus" as proto-Grinderman, they were Bad Seeds songs but were the germ for the Grinderman idea (Cave, Ellis, Sclavunos, Casey as song writing team) and the cover the Gatlin Bros "All The Gold in California" which is credited to Cave & Ellis on the True Detective Season 2 sndtrck but is essentially a Grinderman song (imho)

2 is probably a better album overall but I love the sequencing on the first album a lot, and I still love the midlife crisis-parody(?) vibe

Haha, yeah he kind of has his cake & eats too w/r/t spoofing the midlife crisis vibe.

God they were so great live

A shame that "Dig Lazarus Dig" kind of got lost between these two records, cuz I definitely think it is of a piece of both and a great album in it's own right.

didn't vote but that's the only one I recall

saw them in concert, was a blast, remember listening to a single off the second album and liking it a lot
