Thanks be to global tetrahedron for mentioning this entity, they are fantastic? The latest has a couple growers but the first record cooks my goose consistently

two months pass...

i didn't know they had a thread!

they are amazing
i saw the fancy performance at the MCA and it was totally hypnotizing. janet bean was dressed up like a snow queen with giant white eyelashes and all. there were gongs and a huge bass drum in the center of the setup.
<3 jon mueller <3 everyone in this band tbh

i enjoy listening to his earlier stuff sans vocals that's just fx+harmonium, although i imagine the expanded ensemble is quite an immersive experience live, i'd love to see it

i have enjoyed every incarnation from solo w harmonium through the current somewhat big band setup
i am on the fence about going to an upcoming show with laraaji and i have no idea why i am kidding myself out of wanting to go to it. i feel like i am decidedly in the target audience, i need to be there!
one of the things i love about the rhythm portions of the current lineup is that the emphasis is on pulse and not frills. very steady and not especially complicated but def hypnotic..that's my shit!
lol

Saw them again last night -- Janet's gown was EXQUISITE and some of the other folks I talked with afterward were going on about the gong bath they received on the ~7 min all-percussion bonanza that came toward (at?) the end of the show. Laraaji opened, he was good old Laraaji :)

If this band comes through your town and the description of their music appeals to you at all, I strongly encourage you to go. It's a truly enjoyable experience and you will leave feeling better than when you arrived.
