In 1995 it was Radiohead's "The Bends", I got into Scott in the 00's so now it's "Tilt".

It’s ODB or Autechre (who were in in the middle of their artistically most interesting period).

Many great metal albums, I think Skepticism and Ulver aren’t even in the top 10 for this year, which has Anathema, Summoning, Immortal, Rammstein, Death, Mütiilation, The Gathering, etc.

the 90s years have been ridiculously good and cutting lists has been really hard for mike and I and everyone posts albums not in it and we're like yes they should be in it too.

Shows up the futility of canons as they dont come near representing the best stuff for a lot of people

and the 00s were even worse in that respect, esp with p2p we could actually hear almost everything we read about.

Landcruising is one of the few genuinely great techno albums. A Wonderful Life, Home Entertainment, Science Fiction are all standouts but it works from start to finish

I could happily vote for maybe 20 these and might have chosen Labradford, Luna or Slowdive at the time. But I'll opt for Labcabincalifornia. I've had that CD forever but still don't feel like I entirely grasp what's going on. Which is nice.

Really fancied listening to Black Secret Technology on my way home from work the other day but sadly it's not on Spotify.

This is the first of these lists where I actually heard several (i.e. more than two) of the albums during the year in question - at the time I would have voted for the Chemical Brothers (I got that and the Goldie album on CD for Xmas).

by the way out of the list i posted i want to specifically go out of my way to promote "black belt in boogie", wherein erstwhile Black Oak Arkansas imitators Raging Slab decided to go all-in on the Captain Beefheart sound. rick rubin refused to release it, and they released a revamped version (which is nearly as good) the next year. i cannot overstate how much i love this record; it's one of my most-listened to albums.

lots of great hip hop on this set, the Big L record is fantastic. Went Raekwon in the end.

Critics slagged off the jazzbo bits of "Timeless" but tracks like "Sea of Tears" are gorgeous imo. I hope the album gets a good few votes

Sea Of Tears is pretty great isn't it. Timeless was my first impulse here.
