It seems to me that there are a handful of songs at the bottom, then this clutch of songs all with a fairly similar amount of popularity in the middle, and then the numbers start spreading out. One surprise for me would be "Let It Be" so low, but also surprised (maybe pleasantly so) at "I Want to Hold Your Hand" being fourth most popular, at more than double the number for "She Loves You." (Is there some reason for this other than a general current popularity?)

Did not realize "Come Together" was so popular either.

"come together" being the most popular doesn't surprise me, it's been absolutely run into the ground for me and i can barely stand it

Here Comes the Sun is the most popular overall w/ over 371M streams.

Where are you getting your data from?

Here Comes the Sun has 371M and Let It Be 211M not 31M

It's the stats for songs played from 1, not those for each individual song

But people play these songs individually, right? And it's random, kinda, if they pick it from 1 or some other..

Then again, Summat and Howwayallyez are on more albums than BalladOf and Papperbak

Spotify have become pretty good at linking song plays across releases (like how pre-release single counts count towards the album when it comes out). The Penny Lane number is the same on the Magical Mystery Tour Reissue.

Came to point out that Strawberry Fields beats it by 2 million! Ya done blew it, "1"!

so it's also with considering that Cone Together is the.... only? song here that benefits from the recent 3 massive reissue campaigns for Pepper, white album, and Abbey Rd

maffew12, Wednesday, 23 October 2019 12:14 (four years ago) link

oh nevermind I see the Abbey Rd 2019 "remixes" have fresh counts. 1 and the 2009 "remaster" share a count. makes sense I guess.

still some effect I'd think. I heard Come Together on CBC promoting the reissue. I got home and played some version or other on the Spotify. it was the summer of love all over.

Come Together is so popular because was the first listed song on Spotify’s “This is The Beatles” playlist. It’s crazy how much playlist positioning affects streaming numbers.

Let It Be 211M not 31M

Oh, of course. 1 has the single version.

timellison, Wednesday, 23 October 2019 13:28 (four years ago) link

They're combining stats for "Love Me Do," though?
