The Recording Academy/Deborah Dugan blowup

Think we need a thread about this by now, unless I've missed something. The initial exchanges about her being forced out from a position she just started at a few months ago have been involved enough (though it's pretty clear that she ran up against a board that suddenly found itself challenged and desperately wanted to get her out). But this news broke today and good lord:

There is a LOT happening:

Grammy war: Deb Dugan has filed an EEOC complaint against the Grammys, including an accusation that she had been sexually harassed by a top music lawyer. Story TK.

Dugan vs. Grammys lawsuit: “This year, 30 artists that were not selected by the membership were added to the possible nomination list.”

If anyone wants to interview me about the time I was asked to be on a ballot committee for alternative and left crying because it was so fucked up and awful. Everyone in the room was white male over 40 except for one 40+ woman.

Portnow’s complaint

obviously this isn't the most important aspect of the lawsuit but it's the one that's going to get the most attention, but in general people should be prepared for the possibility that the song nominated for Song of the Year because of a conflict of interest is one of the critically acclaimed tracks that people like, especially given that the person who was robbed of a nomination, according to the lawsuit was ed sheeran

(no, I don't know who it is, 10 minutes of googling were not fruitful, just saying, these things do not line up neatly with popular opinion)
