uk decks and mixers query

Mm I am considering even getting one deck if I can afford it eventually just so I can buy the stuff I really want to hear. I'd also appreciate any advice.

If you're in London, check out Sound Division in Liverpool Rd, Islington - just a block over from Upper St. I got my decks & mixer there - good service, helpful staff (I'm not affiliated in any way} at a good price.

Otherwise, just check the back pages of DJ magazine, Muzik etc in the newsagents to get an idea of best prices/where to go etc

Where are you posting from piscesboy? I could have this wrong, but you're Yorkshire/ Lancashire aren't you? There's Richer Sounds in Sheffield. I used to live round the corner, I never bought anything from them, but I remember my mate Dan getting a Vestax mixer from there at a reasonable price.

www.thomann.de is generally cheap for most music technology shit. I have been told that if you supply them with a VAT number and pretend that it is a business expense, you can avoid paying VAT. (Not condoning this sort of thing, of course...)
Ronan: I wouldn't worry about buying a fancy DJ turntable if you are not planning on getting another one and mixing records , 'cos you won't need features like pitch control or really fast stop and start times etc if you just want to listen to records. There are cheaper and better sounding alternatives in the hi-fi world.
