Music writing canon - let's do it?

I feel like this might be timely considering the Pitchfork drama. And I'm looking for reading recommendations basically.

So my own canon is very basic and would include Christgau, Marcus, Reynolds, Carl Wilson and Mark Fisher. But also at least a dozen more or less anonymous writers on ilm of course.

Other than the obvious (lack of poc, lgbtq and female perspectives), I'm also interested if anyone more engaged in the academic side of things could recommend something from folks like Raymond Williams, Stuart Hall, Roland Barthes, Edward Said and the like. Seems like cultural studies is full of people genuinely invested in both culture and politics, so some great music writing must have come from there right?
