Chewshabadoo, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:13 (four years ago)

Possibly a monstrous question to ask but: what's the likelihood of the new Melchior getting some form of digital/CD release? I can't find any reference to this anywhere yet but may be looking in all the wrong places

technopolis, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:35 (four years ago)

If it’s Perlon they don’t do digital but the albums generally get a CD release

I am using your worlds, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:46 (four years ago)

Although since the vinyl came out last month maybe not in this case? The 3lp might be too long for a single cd. Just speculating here

I am using your worlds, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:49 (four years ago)

It is - I got the last on CD a few years after release; not sure whether to expect a CD release for this one in the next 6 months or so? The vinyl is apparently out now but I'm trying resist re finances

technopolis, Friday, 11 March 2022 16:49 (four years ago)

there will be a rip on slsk eventually if you're a degenerate like me

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Friday, 11 March 2022 16:52 (four years ago)

I feel you technopolis. I spent too much time trying to figure it out. It appears Perlon doesn’t always release their albums on CD (including their last album release, for bruno pronsato) and typically release the cd and LP at once. Ordering a 3LP when shipping costs are fast inflating is no small sacrifice…

New Tony Price album is very good

In late 2020, Tony Price found himself stuck in Los Angeles, unable to fly back to his native Toronto because of Covid-19 restrictions. But he found another way. A former radio DJ Price knew was selling their 1981 Lincoln Continental Mark VI, so he bought the car, intending to drive back to Canada in style. He found a bag of cassette tapes—homemade mixes and radio show recordings from the late '80s replete with motorik Detroit techno, thumping Chicago house and advertisements for products that only exist in memory—stashed in the trunk. The tapes and the old car made a perfect match, and Price played the cassettes constantly during the long drive from California to Ontario.

After his road trip, Price scoured the tapes for samples, pulling together what would become his new album.

One for the “sounds like Earthbound” thread. Just apend 15 mins at the shop debating getting it; i.e. debating whether I like it or just can’t get it out of my head. I think I like it in the way I “like” scratching mosquito bites.

ed.b, Saturday, 4 July 2026 15:36 (two weeks ago)

It is kind of annoying but i guess that goes with the territory if youre making an earwormy tune that would stand out in a mix. But does it make me want to dance? fuck yes

i am definitely not a fan of "Glepp," a certain amount of "annoying" sounds in a track can really work but jfc that main melodic line just makes me think of Mario bros on speed, unpleasant in the extreme imho.

out of the cradle endlessly party rocking (the table is the table), Friday, 10 July 2026 20:08 (two weeks ago)

Lol, I ended up going back to the shop and, after another 15 minutes, bought Glepp. But because it makes me think of Earthbound, so I’m endeared to the unpleasantness.

ed.b, Friday, 10 July 2026 20:38 (two weeks ago)

Maybe the first record I’ve bought for how annoying it is (can’t say I ever bought Gehts Noch or Heater). Wait no, Anaconda by Untold, maybe?

ed.b, Friday, 10 July 2026 20:43 (two weeks ago)

Glepp sounds like GTA San Andreas Theme if it was the soundtrack to a pencil

saer, Friday, 10 July 2026 21:13 (two weeks ago)

For me Glepp is just as much about the little rhythmic shift creating that energy bump, again keeping it simple but effective.

Lol, I ended up going back to the shop and, after another 15 minutes, bought Glepp. But because it makes me think of Earthbound, so I’m endeared to the unpleasantness.
