listened to new day rising tonight for the first time in a long time. what I in my teen years thought was an absolute masterpiece is one of the worst recorded records I own and celebrated summer which I thought was incredibly poignant seems pretty fucking trite 10 years down the line. still not a dreadful record by any stretch of the imagination but not worthy of the praise I heaped on it aged 17...
