Fuckin' neither. Put on DAMAGED, crank the hell out of "Rise Above" and get on with your day.

Yeah, yeah, but between those two...

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Saturday, 30 November 2002 07:37 (twenty-three years ago)

"slip it in," i guess. but just from that album, "black coffee" kicks that song's ass.

your null fame (yournullfame), Saturday, 30 November 2002 07:51 (twenty-three years ago)

true...

I remember when "Fight Club" came out I got a call from my friend on the other side of the country saying to go see it and "if Black Flag's song Black Coffee was a movie, that would be it."

But back to the matter at hand...

Helltime Producto (Pavlik), Saturday, 30 November 2002 07:54 (twenty-three years ago)

...neither of those, my pick is "nervous breakdown". the rollins years were OK but not my favorite era of Black Flag. the early stuff is best. or "depression"...

"Slip It In". It's got the better video, too.

"Six pack" is the only Black Flag song I like.

Between those two I'd say Drinking and Driving, but IMHO neither top TV Party.

Drinking And Driving, between those two.

Slip It In is ruined by the faux-orgasm noises, and the totally macho tone it has.

Best Black Flag: Depression, Rise Above, Jealous Again, No Values, Annihilate This Week

TV PARTY TONIGHT! TV PARTY TONIGHT!! ALRIGHT!!!

Best version of "Slip It In" ever: Terre T. with the Hoof & Mouth Sinfonia on WFMU. http://www.wfmu.org/listen.ram?show=173&drop=20 . Note that she had never sung before that performance. I don't mean "never sung in public," I mean "never sung." (I was playing bass, and had to nudge her with it to cue every line...) Also, near the end, Brian Turner starts playing the "Mother Sky" riff.

Wow.... The G.Ginn impersonation on axe was pretty dead on there. Yeah, the "never sung" thing sorta does come through, you could say.

"Six Pack" rocks my underworld, as does "Rise Above"; But "TV Party" takes a vinegar-scented whiz over all of them from a great height.

bbut to answer the questioone'

"Slip it in" is a better song
"Drinkin & Drivin" has better lyrics and a better gitr solo.

"Nervous Breakdown" vs "Black Coffee" would be a more interesting fight though.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 18:57 (twenty-three years ago)

"Nervous Breakdown" is probably the greatest song ever.

Kris (aqueduct), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 19:27 (twenty-three years ago)

as this has morphed into a BLACK FLAG POO:

"nervous breakdown" or "jealous again" with Dez Cadena on vocals is all i'll ever need out of music.

gygax!, Wednesday, 4 December 2002 19:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Black Flag POO/OPO? Fuck, I'm in:

There's plenty of competition, but I have to go with "Rise Above."

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Man, you guys are forgetting (all about the title of this thread, but I can't say I give a shit)all about the instrumentals, and "Process of Weeding Out". The way I see it, the Flag is kind of a commitment. You can't be like, "I only like Chavo's stuff", or "Rollins ruined it." This could be because I like Hank, or it could be because I'm a rabid Flag fan (it's one of those "throw a chair at a party" topics, if you know what I mean), but I get tired of these half-ass Flag fans. Why do you think they made the logo so simple? SO you could tattoo yourself in your bedroom while drunk, and show your undying dedication.
