this is a kind of music we just pretty much ignore on ILM, and yet I know so many people who grew up with and still enjoy NOFX - same goes with any number of US punk-ish bands.

I always thought they were "icky" - FTR

If you really like that one (which, imho, is the best of their discography) you might like the trio of albums that came directly before it - S&M Airlines, Ribbed, and White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean. After that the band pretty much coasts. The War on Errorism was a latter half career highlight in terms of songs, but the second-grade level political songs can grate.
Their single-song 18-minute EP The Decline is worth hearing once, its just a shame that once they got all of that ambition out of their system they went directly back to being a frustratingly average punk band.

I tour occasionally and crash at the pads of indie dudes, psych folkers, beach beardos, techno snobs and metalheads on a regular basis, and, almost invariably, amid piles of cool records, there is an Epitaph stash. Sometimes it's hidden, in the low rungs of the CD tower, sometimes they're mixed right in with the No Age and the Neokarma, but, for dudes between the ages of 25 and 25, there is almost ALWAYS a NOFX pile.
I like 'em fine. Definitely not 'indefensible' or anything like that. "Liza and Louise" is a great punk tune, and jon is otm about the ones right before Punk In Drublic.
From what I remember, their reality show is also fairly uproarious.

Errr, that's 'between the ages of 25 and 35.'

Punk in drublic and heavy petting zoo were my favourites as a lad.

I hate neo-punk, and I find NOFX and their brethren beyond tolerable. They have hooks and they don't seem like a bunch of crabby navel-gazers.

I still listen to them. I'm in my 30s and the last time I tried to skateboard I broke my collarbone.
