A great collection, overall--one of the very best in the series. I expect The Cars and Mission of Burma to eat up a lot of the votes (for good reason), but I'm going with "No Place Like Home," a mixtape staple from my high school days.

La Peste and Unnatural Axe are also great tracks, not my fave Nervous Eaters (but nothing really touches "Just Head" in my book)

still yeah there is no denying MOB, tremendous track

Mission of Burma. Never had this comp and only know half of it. The Dangerous Birds single is a personal favorite, with the poppy Alpha Romero written by Lori Green on one side and the darker Smile on Your Face by the always amazing Thalia Zadek on the other. The La Peste track slays but it's gotta be Mission of Burma.

I have the Robin Lane album (can't remember if it was Marcus or Christgau who was a fan--or anything from the LP), have a Nervous Eaters album (had to check), and liked the first Del Fuegos album, but "Revolver" is literally the only song I know here. I like it enough to vote for it.

^^Both of them, especially Marcus:

Wow totally forgot about the Jackie O song. It’s been a minute but as soon as I pulled it on YT it all came back. Mission of Burma will get plenty of well deserved votes. Give me some of that obscure Human Sexual Response. Their other “hit” What Does Sex Mean To Me? also highly recommended.

Wow, I had no idea this existed! Know almost none of these.

I almost included Human Sexual Response along with the Cars and MOB in my earlier remark about which tracks were gonna eat up the bulk of the votes; not sure why, but I’ve long assumed they’re more famous than they are. Anyway, “Jackie Onassis” is another one that deserves any votes it gets.

Human Sexual Response in a tiny club 1980-ish is one of the most spellbinding shows I ever saw. Four part harmonies, a frontman equal parts David Byrne and Fred Schneider, a guitarist often using his beer bottle for ringing harmonics and slide noise maelstroms, and oh the arty choreography!

"Jackie Onassis" is not my favorite song by them, and I honestly probably like the Mission of Burma track better, but I'm voting HSR for the great memories.

Agreed on MoB, but I'll rep for:
La Peste - there's an excellent collection of studio and live stuff put out by Matador
Dangerous Birds - I think they recorded only half a dozen tracks but they're all good
Real Kids - the debut album is fun if a bit one-note
Neats - I have "1981-84 The Ace Of Hearts Years" and it's all you needs
Human Sexual Response - fantastic band! Their two albums are essential, the 2nd only recently was reissued. It contains the brilliant "Land Of The Glass Pinecones".

If you like this comp, you'll also enjoy a couple of other Ace Of Hearts compilations (bought directly from Rick Harte):

Assumed I would vote for Mission of Burma, but that Unnatural Axe tune was a trip, and MoB is gonna sweep this poll anyway.
