John Lydon and other punks + some dance producers(orbital, underworld) often cite Van der Graaf Generator and Peter Hammill solo stuff as influential, same with Groundhogs,King Crimson as well as Can,Amon Duul 2,Faust,Neu!,Tangerine Dream etc
So where should I start? Anyone in the know?
I know they arent krautrock,im just using those bands as examples of stuff you wouldnt expect people to recommend due to their supposed 'prog' tendencies.

I think we discussed this recently, or maybe it was part of a general prog. thread. Hmmm.

I just put on "Plague Of Lighthouse-Keepers". I love this piece. Hammill had an amazing voice.

Can anyone find that other thread and link to it? I can't seem to locate it.

Yeah, Plague of Lighthouse Keepers is pretty ace but for pure moving balladry it has to be "Refugees" - that song instills the weirdest feeling in me.
