you know i just moved apartments, from a weird cramped 175 sq ft (like 5 meters x 4 meters) L-shaped apartment to a big square studio. i finally got to set up my electrostatic speakers in a way that gives me nice reinforcement across most frequencies and a good soundstage and tonight i am listening to "cocadisco" by parallax corporation and it sounds absolutely HOLOFONIC and fantastic, unlike most other listening situations when i just listen to "lift-off" and "whore of the floor" and turn it off.
i would like to hear the italo stuff in a LOUD club context w/ proper sound, like in david mancuso's loft or at fabric or something.
this is really music which NEEDS good sound, which is weird because you never think of it that way ... people throw that shit around about d'n'b and hardcore and stuff, which is sort of idiotic because honestly dubstep or techstep sound exactly the same whether you hear them over my fancy speakers or car stereo speakers or headphones or just about anything bbut something overtly shitty like a laptop.
the only benefit you get from the soundsystem experience is the lame physical artifact of chest-quaking bass pressure, which is really just sort of corny and lame when you get down to it: see below
anyway ...
