Yes, this is a parody poll...or is it?

Similarities to consider:

*I enjoy listening to but don't want to be next-door neighbors with
*Doing more drugs than their already-druggie peers
*Abbreviations of the word "and"
*Overlapping influences list on Allmusic.com: Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, David Bowie

*Controversy over homophobic comments/lyrics.

Did not know that about the Mondays, but not one bit surprised.

This has the Happy Mondays’ two best records, and GnR’s only two good ones. However, there’s only really one good song out of the four on Lies, which fails to counterbalance however many there are on the Illusionses.

On the other hand, I’d like to hear God’s Cop with Adler drumming.

(I don’t remember homophobic lyrics from the Mondays, but the comments were ridiculed by other members of the band in the same interview, in between Shaun making them.)

(Along the lines of “I don’t want gay blokes coming around me being all gay” “lol you weren’t saying that when we were partying at that gay bar on Sunday night, what are you on about” “I don’t want nobody touching my bum man” “stop trying to look tough in the paper, dickhead, nobody cares”)

No homophobic lyrics from HM, just comments made during infamous NME interview.... GNR had the homophobic lyrics.

lol this one is hard because Appetite for Destruction is my favorite out of all of these but the Mondays started good and got great and G'n'R started great and got mediocre. I guess I'll vote Mondays because if I had to listen to all three releases by either band I would much rather listen to theirs in toto.

No contest, Mondays.

GnR has a couple of songs that I like if I hear them out in the wild.

Happy Mondays all the way.

Cow_Art, Monday, 21 October 2024 18:36 (yesterday) link

two bands made up of real fuckin knuckleheads

i can't really dishonor 13 year old me so gotta go GnR

do the Mondays really not have any homophobic lyrics? that would be pretty remarkable if so

I wonder how G’n’R would’ve sounded with John Cale producing.

Dan Worsley, Tuesday, 22 October 2024 13:03 (eight hours ago) link

*both bands had members that wore bucket-related headgear
