That new Julie Christmas album speaks for me. And to me. In a good way right now. A cathartic way. Not a blind rage way. I'm actually feeling pretty calm.

(her performance at Hellfest likewise gives me chills and inspires me to be a stronger person with sharper teeth.)

I was listening to so much aggressive/loud/ugly music this year and it definitely fit my ugly mood. But I feel different now. I feel stronger mentally. I think I'm in the mood for triumphant music. Music that holds power. I think I might need to listen to some opera!

In the first couple of days after the election, I had to take a break from aggressive/angry music (along with all news), and listened to pretty much nothing but old yoga music, like Rapoon's Vernal Crossing, Tuu's "All Our Ancestors", and Chi's "The Original Recordings". After that, I did a bunch of loscil, Lawrence English, and William Basinski (and collaborations between). Now I'm back to loud and ugly. Really loving the latest Regional Justice Center and the new Wormrot re-release of Left to Rot.

The election sucks obv but I have been dealing with so much hard family stuff + got into a car accident last week, my mood is strictly….

brooding, defensive pose, slow flow… idk. Been hitting the first Thergothon album hard.

my picks above were

Bohren and der club of gore - Midnight Radio (dark doomy quiet jarmusch/lynch “jazz”).

Opal Vessel - Never Yield
(amazing album. still not quite sure what’s going on here. slowed down misty drum n bass mostly)
