IIRC, the Smokey is one of the umpteen songs that caused Greil "Insurance Risk" Marcus to drive off the road upon hearing on the radio for the first time.

I can name at least five or six Miracles songs that are among my all-time favourites, but--I don't know why--"Mirage" has never been one of them, ditto "Tracks of My Tears." I put "You've Really Got a Hold on Me," "Fork in the Road," "Ooh Baby Baby," "Tears of a Clown," and "Way Over There" ahead of both, plus some others.

"Private Number" is great, I recognize that intro from being sampled. That's not my pick, though. I own this box, so I'm relistening to the whole thing before I vote.

The Precisions – You're The Best (That Ever Did It)

The compilers chose the wrong Garnet Mimms song - it should have been "As Long As I Have You" - so i'll go with Barbara Mason. Love the string arrangements (amongst many other things)

Glad to see that Precisions track get some love--I'm torn between it and "Choice of Colors," which-like a lot of other Impressions classics-never fails to sound like the greatest thing ever when I'm listening to it.
