You just can't beat light-hearted commentary over videos.

I miss Beavis and Butthead.

Dud. It really seemed like they scraped the bottom of the barrel for footage. The live shows were extremely boring to watch, just as I had suspected. I believe Pavement itself was much more of a conceptual rock band, something critics really did like to write about more than listen to. And I'm perfectly find with that and I love the idea of Pavement. But scholastic rockers do not a visual treat make. The DVD would have been better if it was a documentary about the life and times of Gary Young.

Oh, and there was like two still photos of David Berman. NATCH.

He's not that sexy.

Or was that a complaint?

I was only saying that watching a DVD of Gary Young doin' stuff appeals to me more than watching Pavement play music.

But of course I'd rather listen to CROOKED RAIN than HOSPITAL.

I was talking about yr dave berman comment, which confused me.

Totally classic.

Only disappointments - both shows were taken from '99 (although they did play a good range of stuff...) and nothing regarding the breakup.

Gary Young seemed like an interesting character to say the least... He wasn't part of the band for the majority of it's recording history though, so I feel they devoted enough coverage to him, regardless of whether he's entertaining or not.

The dodgy handycam-style footage suited them perfectly IMO.

one year passes...
Does anyone know which song they play live pretty early in the documentary?
The name of the song is "black" something.

I don't think it was Baptist Blactick.

"Black Walls"

I don't understand what you mean, but I could really give a fuck.
Nature kid.

I think the DVD itself is 1/2 classic 1/2 dud. most all the old footage is ace (esp: "Baptist Blacktick" and "Summer Babe" live, the Lollapalooza footage), but the two full-concerts are a dud - waaaay too much Terror Twilight, and performed unenthusiastically at that. An interview w/ Gary would have been nice.

Their videos are sometimes funny though - ie: "Gold Soundz" and "Winner of The ...". Key word = sometimes.

"Black Walls" - classic.

They only played it live, but you can find a recording of it on the Stray Slack bootleg. The majority of the lyrics are lifted from "Heckler Spray".

"You shouldn't hate yr neighbors cause they're part of YOU"
