If you're in Providence, you'd better be taking a bong hit and listening to Zaireeka. Shit, that town sucks ass.

I'd come if I could! Need a spare stereo?

I did drug-free Zaireeka listening parties back when it came out, when I was in high school, in Little Rock, AR (which does suck).

I live in Providence for the last 10 years, and it does not suck at all. But I don't think I'd enjoy a 'Zaireeka' listening party as much, and I don't own a single CD player, much less 4 boomboxes...

lol my friends and i always talked about doing this but never managed it.

kinda put flaming lips in a shoe box never to be opened again around 2006. one of these days i'll go back to clouds taste metallic but 50/50 on whether i get anything from it anymore, my taste for twee has gone out the window.

Space for one more?

I just bought Zaireeka!

i got this when it came out and have been able to listen to it in all its four-disc glory exactly twice. there were moments when i thought it was kinda the perfect flaming lips album, the sweet spot inflection point between their orchestral prog era and sloppy guitar psych era. oddly enough it has been on my mind recently and ive been jonesing to hear it again, definitely feel like my buds these days will clown me for it but i'm still gonna give it a shot

I'd fully quit Flaming Lips with 'Yoshimi,' but somehow heard 'Embryonic' and dug it a lot at the time, and 'The Terror' even more. Some of the experiments they did in the interim were cool, too. Basically their Faust-y years. Eventually Coyne just seemed like too much of a lech creep, and seemed like they went dayglo cartoon again, so haven't listened to any of it in years.

I had one of these, oh, 18 years ago? It was pretty cool imo, no bong rips involved.

Years ago when I had my college radio show I took advantage of the 4 disc trays in the station and played the entire album over the air. I have no idea how it sounded to the listener but getting to hear it all on the studio headphones was a wild trip. I should see if I still have that broadcast saved somewhere.
