"A really nice collection of Bjork songs.

Today, I went out to buy some music. Low and behold, what did I see? Bjork's Greatest Hits collection. 15 great songs on one compilation. The first track, a real beautiful alternative version of "All is full of love". Much better than the original from the "Homogenic" album.

I love "Play Dead", for the great orchestration and the style of song. "It's in our hands", which is a new track, is another really nice song, compared to many of Bjork's wilder music. These two tracks are from another world of Bjork, but I like and appreciate her for all her music.

Nice remix of "Big time sensuality". A little stuck on one note, throughout the background melody, but nice all the same. When popping the cd into the stereo, I immediately wished that the songs would be different versionsl. In a way, I didn't think before buying the cd, because I already have most of the individual Bjork albums. But, it's nice to have everything compiled onto one cd, where you don't have to keep switching discs to get all your favourite songs. Of course, I think that 15 songs for a greatest hits is not enough. There are lots more songs which should have made it to the cd, but it's alright.

One song which could have gone into the song list is "Heirloom". Others are "I miss you" and "It's oh so quiet". I don't mind anyway, because if there had been more songs, maybe the cd would've dragged on too long.
The songs which did make it are perfect, and display Bjork's many talents, both as a singer and a songwriter. Her lyrics are always original, emotional at times, melodic, crazy and just totally BJORK! The music wouldn't be Bjork, without all the screams, and funny, quarky background sounds taking over at times. I absolutely love the oriental sound at the beginning of "Pagan Poetry". Took me to another world for a moment.

Too bad about the artwork though. No pictures of the artist. Just some hand-drawn scribbles and free-hand artwork in black and white. Would have been nice to see a "thank you" page to the fans at the back. Maybe even some lyrics. Liked the photo of her inside the cardboard package where one side of Bjork's back is plastered with cement, which has chipped away. It looks like a poor attempt at mummifying her with cement and a few pish posh bandages.

So, after all that, I think what Bjork Gudmonsdottir is trying to say, is "keep it simple, yet satisfying". I agree!

..Only a true fan would know her last name! But apparently, she's not as big a fan as this person, who mentions her first band:
"Bjork's legacy stretches back to the time when she was in the Sugarcubes. Her solo career has been nothing short of being extraordinary. Though not your super blockbuster kind of artists, Bjork is definitely one of the most artitically inclined."

.. I expected to find worse (more poorly written) reviews of Boston's "Corporate America" CD - but I was surprised to find that they were relatively coherent...

And only a really true fan would know that the Sugarcubes were not Bjork's first band.

Nas vs Jay-Z threads not withstanding, the world of customer reviews has it all over ILM...

myself and some friends have just finished watching all thirty episodes of twin peaks,at a rate of about two a week...all throughout i avoided reading anything about the show,so as not to spoil any plot twists...the only exception to this was one customer review of season 1,which i had already watched,on dvd,at amazon.co.uk...all i wanted to know was what kind of extra scenes there were, etc
you can imagine my horror when the first sentence of the review (of season 1,bear in mind)gave away the ending of the last episode of the entire series...

Officially they're supposed to edit reviews that give away the ending ... they also edit obscenities.

As for the Bjork review: do you guys also go to record stores and listen to what people say while they're shopping, and then go home and laugh at them?

What you could do is get take these amazon reviews and review them out of 10, then average the ratings, and this would be the true actual value of the artist.
