for those who think Eminem is just more of the same old thang -- albiet dipped in bleach -- I'd like to propose these possible paths toward the phuture.
Who's lame and who deserves fame: Barman or Skinner?

They're both men! And they talk in their songs!

not really similar in any way
they are both Rappers. They both sound different than other rappers.
Ergo similar enough.
I'm intrigued. Want to know if they are worth exploring or whether its all hype.
Any opnions.

Rephrasing the Question(s):
MC Paul Barman: Classic or Dud, Search and Destroy?
Mike Skinner: Classic or Dud, Search and Destroy?

What if they'd cast MC Paul Barman in 8 Mile?

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 06:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Ludicrous-I would never play MCPB in my car or walkman, therefore his music is no good. Yes, they are poles apart.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 11:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Does Mike Skinner follow politics to ball all the chicks? Does Paul Barman have fond memories of the rave scene of five years ago? All these questions and more, over my dead body.

i would never play skinner at all, unless it was to demonstrate how fucking terrible you can be and still get acclaim.

up until i heard the new MCPB, i was with him. at some point he reached self-satisfaction saturation and stopped talking about...anything sensical. "i've got a very goth towel/a terry cloth cowl"?! not once, but TWICE on an album?

your null fame (yournullfame), Wednesday, 18 December 2002 14:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know about that Paul Barman. Most of the time he just pisses me off, like "God, SHUT UP!!!" (which I'm sure some people also think when listening to my music), but every once in awhile he drops a stone-cold gem, like the Paul/Paul (Prince Paul, that is) colab "Bleeding Brain Grow", even if just the line "you make my karma puke/you who refuse to disarm a nuke".

I don't know, PB's album is funny the first time, if you're very drunk, as I was. After that, you hear him singing "Paulellujah" and think 'what did I like about this again?"

Skinner, on the other hand, I can't get enough of. I'm not sure what the big difference is, but I think it has to do with Skinner not being a total tool.

So, for once, I'm actually gonna take a side instead of say "well, they both have their merits" and all that bullsnot, and totally side with Skinner.

Ack i met someone ELSE last Friday who said she used to confuse me w/PB.... but she said she once asked PB if he was ME which for some reason is totally okay, when the other way around it's snot.
