Buncha old drums.

Some less old cymbals too.

Jordan (Jordan), Saturday, 21 December 2002 08:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow. I, uh, I have just about every audio software program that exists (gee, where did those come from), but not a single bit of hardware. I'm hoping to get an Oxygen 8 soon, and put my faith in the computer's ability to produce any sound I'd like from it. Does anyone else have a strictly computer & midi keyboard set-up? Does it work or no?

Dan I., Saturday, 21 December 2002 09:07 (twenty-three years ago)

oh and the soft synths. let us not forget about the wonderful soft synths - Battery, JXSynth, ReFX Juno, B4, fm7, Pro52, Kontakt and loads more cheap and nasty ones - including the fantastic "Synth One" that consists of cut off, res and a choice of 3, yes thats 3, unlistenable wave shapes. Nothing else.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Saturday, 21 December 2002 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

A casio keyboard.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 22 December 2002 23:22 (twenty-three years ago)

a couple of borrowed telecasters (generally tuned DGDF#AD or DADF#AD), my own gibson s.g. that i generally only play once a show, crate "vintage" all-tube 50 watt combo that is now dead as a doornail so i'm defaulting to a small keyboard amp sitting atop a marshall 4x12 cabinet (both owned by our keyboard player).

and that's it.

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Sunday, 22 December 2002 23:45 (twenty-three years ago)

...er...
rickenbacker 360-12 & 350sh guitars

A bunch of cheap-ass Behringer recording tools (want something really good & have more £$£$£$ than me? Seek ye thee Oram sonicomp 1 compressor)

Most of this stuff i bought when it was cheap or at end-of-the-line closeouts. The stuff i bought new is the stuff that's worth nothing. Some of the cheapest stuff is now worth the most $$$$ go figure.

Some kind of custom Japanese built Fender Strat thingy, a Marshall Guv'nah, Boss delay/phaser/trem pedals, a broken Ultimate Chorus amp that does great hideous post-punk chorus screech but nothing else (I don't do anything else either, rilly), a borrowed Roland amp and a £60 Encore strat knockoff for those difficult/risky 'Sonic Youth tunings.' I've also been promising to buy myself a synth with a loan cheque for ages, but it may never happen.

Still good for this half-decade.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 15 January 2008 04:04 (eighteen years ago)

A pirated version of Fruity Loops 4 I was given a bit over 3 years ago, which I run on my old PC, now more than 6 and a half years old, with something like 750mhz of memory, and God only knows what kind of sound card.

I've tried Abelton and Reason Demos, could barely find out how to make it even produce noise at all with the former, and just couldn't in the latter. I need to find someone with abelton who can teach me, I'm dying to make one of those meticulous 40+ track megamixes.

I'm comfortable with good old FLstudio 4 though, I mean, the audio processing is such shit that my productions are unplayable at non-very quiet volumes though.
